Lynn Vertis Peterson, Age 84, died on December 23, 2024, from pancreatic cancer. He was born in Salt Lake City on August 18, 1940, to Edward James and Lila Hansen Peterson, the third of six children. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School. He attended the University of Utah.

Lynn married Linda Chatwin and they had three daughters. He worked in the field of Human Resources, focusing mainly on Employee Benefits. He was employed at Utah Power and Light, where he retired in 1990. He then was employed by Novell and later worked for Convergys. Lynn also worked part time at the Salt Palace and the Delta Center. He was a hard, dedicated worker and always finished what he started.

Lynn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He especially loved his calling in the ward working with the young men, hiking, backpacking, fishing, and boating. He had a lasting influence on many of them. He and Linda enjoyed their service mission in the Cannon 9th Ward and later served for 12 years as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple.

Lynn loved to be in the outdoors—whether he was mowing the lawn or raking leaves at home, camping or hunting with family, as well as golfing or skiing with family or friends. He cherished his family and loved doing things with them. Weekly Sunday dinners and family vacations were always special times. In retirement Lynn and Linda enjoyed traveling to several places around the world - Switzerland was his favorite.
