Richard Alan Brown

1957 ~ 2018

Salt Lake City, UT.

In loving memory of our father and brother; Richard Alan Brown, who passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018, following a long illness. Rick was born in Ogden, Utah, June 20, 1957, the third child and second son of Gordell Anderson and Eva Barbara Tidwell Brown. Rick was raised in Farmington, Utah. He also spent time in Cache County with his father on the family farm in Wellsville, Utah, where he acquired a solid work ethic. Rick married Lorraine Baker, August 8, 1987, in Sandy, Utah. They were married 25 years and had two daughters.

In his youth, Rick earned the distinguished Eagle Scout award. Following his graduation from Davis High School, Rick proudly served a mission to Perth, Australia, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Upon Rick's return from his mission, he attended college and was employed as a master electrician. After moving to Salt Lake City, Rick worked for Rebel Enterprises, earning many awards for Salesman of the Year. A few years later, Rick developed his entrepreneurial skills as an independent sales contractor for American Solutions for Business, growing his success in selling business products. Rick was also a security guard for Snowbird Ski Resort, where he had many close friends.

Rick was a kind and loving brother and husband, and a deeply devoted and proud father to Danielle and Melanie. The girls could always count on their dad's love and support. They have many fond memories of good times shared with their father. Whether with homework projects, arts, choir, dance, music, or sports. Camping, boating, fishing, riding ATV's, family vacations, and many other family activities, and celebrations. Rick liked skiing and even tried snowboarding later in life, just to be able to do it with Danielle and Melanie... let's just say, he fell quite a bit. Rick will be remembered for being most always happy, smiling, and joking with everyone he met. And for being a skilled craftsman. There was nothing he could not do in home improvement and in landscape. Other interests and hobbies he enjoyed, were several family pets, cars, car shows, golf, music, target shooting, and his Harley Davidson truck and motorcycle. Our Golden Retriever, Harley… The only other male in a household of women!

Danielle became engaged last Christmas to Brandon Beamon. It was an honor for Rick, when Brandon, observed the traditional custom of meeting with the bride's father, to ask his approval to marry his daughter. We are delighted to have Brandon become part of our family and we are certain Danielle will feel her father's presence on her wedding day, this fall. Rick's spirit will live on in his daughters and will be felt throughout their lives.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his daughters; Danielle Nicole Brown (Brandon Beamon, fiancé) Murray, UT., and Melanie Michelle Brown, Midvale, UT. Former wife, Lorraine Brown, Cottonwood Heights, UT. Sister, Shauna (Dieter) Scheunemann, Draper, UT., Brother, Robert (Shirley) Brown, St. George, UT. Sister, Barbara Ann Brown, Layton, UT, and Sister, Lisa (Keith) Varley, Bountiful, UT. Nieces and Nephews, which Rick loved and had fun times with.

Danielle, Melanie, and Lorraine, wish to express their love and heartfelt appreciation to Rick's brother and sisters, for their love, thoughtful consideration, kind and generous, support throughout their father's illness. And to the many outstanding medical professionals, involved in their dad's care. Patrick McDermott, M.D., Stanley Phillips, DPM. We also wish to thank family and friends, for their caring and kind support during this difficult time.

Only a biker understands; riding a bike is like an art, something you do because you feel something inside... Race the rain, ride the wind, and chase the sunset with freedom, Dad. We love you.
