Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and friend Brenda Marie Alder, age 83 passed away peacefully on December 10, 2019.
Born July 28, 1936, in England who is survived by her brother, Colin Read (Janey) in England and her sister, Marilyn Craigmile in Australia. Brenda was married in England to Gary Deane Alder who preceded her in death along with her father, Alfred Stephen Read, and Mother, Martha J. Read. Brenda is survived by her three children, JoAnn Marie Anderson (Clinton), Darren Alder (Jesse), Robert Alder (Kirsten), three grandchildren: Jerry Smith (Lori), ShyAnn Sexton and Marty Alder along with two great-grandchildren.
Brenda was a very strong, independent, positive, patient, resilient and wise woman. She survived growing up through World War II which at 4-years old her family was relocated to community housing in the British countryside due to the Blitz bombings of her birthplace in Southampton. Brenda adored the countryside, but it was no easy task as her mother was a German immigrant, food was strictly rationed along with many other hardships growing up. Later she met her husband Gary which after being married for 3-years, left her homeland and came to the United States to make Utah her new home with her husband and two very young children. Brenda worked with Gary with his Real Estate Appraising business out of their home while raising and attending to their three children. Her passion was gardening, her dogs, cats (all animals) puzzles and dancing. She was hard working and such a caring mother who was always there for her children. She supported and praised all of their passions and activities growing up from their education to the horses, skiing, motorcycles, and cars even though I'm sure some of these frightened the daylights out of her. Mom was an avid outdoors person who spent time with her family on numerous fishing trips, hunting, and camping. Her and JoAnn showed dogs together for years and finished one to his Championship. She loved to cook and always put together fantastic holiday parties for the family. Later in her life, Mom's passion was her time spent with dear friends she made at the Sandy Senior Center. She was very involved in line dancing and exercise classes and enjoyed lunch with her friends or picking up new puzzles. We thank you all for your friendship, support and love for our dear mother over the years. Her contagious bright smile will always be on the front-row smiling at you!
A celebration of her life will be held on January 4, 2020, from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Le Jardin at the Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1910 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S) in Sandy, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Sandy Senior Center in memory of Brenda.
