Sandy, UT -- Geraldine (Gerri) Ann Simon, 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends, Monday, April 4, 2016, from Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).
Gerri was born July 5, 1935 to Kenneth F and Anna Irene McMinn in Waukegan, IL. She married Charles Keith Simon, Jr., January 21, 1955. They had three children, Diana, Charles and Kenneth. They lived in Kenosha, WI until they retired to Largo, FL. After the death of her husband in 1996, she lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Salt Lake City, UT. She was a wonderful mother, loving wife and generous caring friend. Gerri loved to teach and was a gifted kindergarten teacher for 30 years. She was an accomplished pianist.
Gerri was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a faithful member who loved serving in the Primary (children\s Sunday School). Gerri remained true to her love for the Savior and was unwavering in her journey to return to Him. Her determination, childlike innocence, generosity and playful sense of humor will be greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Keith and brothers, Kenneth and Douglas McMinn. She is survived by her children, Diana (Ted) Parsons, Chuck and Kenny Simon, grandchildren Jessica, Melissa and Vanessa, great grandchildren Andre and Damon, her brother Roland McMinn, brother-in-law John Simon and her nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 am, at the Sandy Granite View LDS Chapel, 2675 East Mount Jordan Rd (9700) So. A viewing will be held prior to services at the church from 9:30 am -10:30 am. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens, Sandy, UT.
