A loving mother, wife, grandmother, aunt and friend, Maaike Stam Vreeke was called to return to her Heavenly Father on October 7, 2022. Maaike was born on October 25, 1927 in Dubbeldam, The Netherlands.

She emigrated to the USA in 1950 with her husband Jacob Stam, leaving behind her parents and 16 brothers and sisters. Here, her three children were born and she devoted her life to her husband, children and home. Maaike was always serving others and with her never-failing positivity and friendly manner she was a joy to all who knew her.

In 1985 Maaike lost her beloved husband Jake to cancer. Then in 1996, Maaike married another wonderful man, Jan Vreeke who had also lost his spouse to cancer. Together they spent 16 sweet years visiting family, traveling and enjoying each other’s companionship.
Maaike leaves behind three children: Jerome (Jill) Stam, Pauline (Michael) Short, and Ronald (Nola) Stam, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter, plus Jan’s sons, daughters and large extended family. She was preceded in death by Jacob, Jan, Callista, parents and many brothers and sisters.

An evening viewing will be held on Monday, October 10th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Gardens: 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, Utah. A viewing prior to the service will be on Tuesday, October 11th from 10:00-11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens followed by a graveside service at Memorial Estates Redwood: 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah, starting at 12:00 Noon.
