Marcellus Dee Mecham, age 87, passed away peacefully at home in South Jordan, UT on Thursday, August 15, 2024. Born May 19, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Marcellus D. Mecham and Harriet Dennis. As the oldest of six children, Dee is survived by his younger siblings: Colleen Eldredge, Luella Kreautler, Cliff Mecham, Linda Summers, and Brenda Wood.

Dee attended Cyprus High and graduated Murray High School in 1955. He met his eternal companion on State Street in August of 1956. Married Thomasine Louise Geis on November 24, 1956, sealed in the Manti temple on November 28, 1962.

Dee passed on a strong work ethic to his family and worked tirelessly as a delivery driver, diesel mechanic and ended his career as a truck driver transporting US Mail.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings including serving two missions with his sweetheart, Tommy. Dee and Tommy had six children including: Chris (Karen), Marci (Rex) Kelson, Tai (Kelli), Marla Moltz, Jason (Heather), and Joshua (Stefanie).

As a young man, Dee loved deer hunting with his father. He enjoyed spending time with extended family including camping and family reunions.

Preceded in death by his parents. Survived by his wife, six children, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, August 22, 2024 and 11a.m. at Glenmoor 5th Ward, 4881 W. Cindy Ln., South Jordan, UT. Viewing Services will be Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 6-8pm and also 10-10:45a.m. prior to the funeral.

Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. 10600 S. Sandy, UT.
