Marcia Gardiner, 68, passed away quietly in her sleep on March 16, 2022 from complications due to cardiomyopathy.

Born March 11, 1954, the youngest of ten children to Harold Birk and Erma Young Gardiner in Salt Lake City where she spent childhood days playing sandlot baseball with the neighborhood boys in Logan Circle. Later traded her baseball bat for a tennis racket. Graduated from Highland High School and attended the University of Utah. For more than four decades she has called San Francisco home. She was passionate about music, singing, playing guitar and being part of several musical groups. Her love for music led her to work in the music business for Warner Brothers/Atlantic and Koch Music. She later worked for University of California San Francisco (UCSF), holding many department roles, including eight years in the Chair’s office in the Department of Psychiatry and five years as an executive administration officer in the Department of Radiology.

Marcia was a friend to all, slow to judge and quick to forgive. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her kindness and radiant smile were immeasurable and enduring, like a ripple in a pond that cascaded outward to all. She will be remembered and deeply missed.
Preceded in death by parents, siblings Harold Gardiner, Jean Gardiner, Ron and Janice Wright, Erma Winter.
