My warmest condolences to the Bonham family. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Marcile, however I heard a lot about her through her wonderful daughter, Diane. Diane loved her mother dearly, and Diane’s love for her was demonstrated by the care she gave, endlessly. Diane emphasized what a sharp and brave woman Marcile was. Peace to the family.

Obituary
Marcile Marks Bonham, 97, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2026, with her husband and family by her side.
Born in Rigby, Idaho, on April 20, 1929, Marcile was the daughter of George Wiley Marks and Emma Delilah Merritt. On June 22, 1956, she married Brent Walker Bonham in Logan, Utah. Over their 70 years of marriage, they built a life together and raised six children: Laurie, Joe (Lori), Jim, Diane, Todd, and Brian.
Throughout her life, she stayed curious, loved learning, and found joy in everyday things. She was an avid reader, often reading two newspapers a day and a couple of books a week.
She also loved to dance! Tap dance was her favorite. She performed at USO shows with the traveling troupe ‘Martel’s Marvels’. We always found her dancing in the kitchen in between prepping meals.
She was creative in many areas. She enjoyed writing, producing, and directing road shows for the youth. Several first place awards were on her mantel. She also was a girls softball coach. Everyone liked her energy, spunk, and directness.
As a homemaker, she was a master at feeding a family of eight on a small budget. She taught us the importance of eating healthy along with the pleasure of desserts. One of the family’s favorite childhood memories was camping, sitting by the fire roasting hot dogs, s’mores, and playing night games.
With six children to raise, Marcile became quite the seamstress, skillfully altering hand-me-downs her sisters had passed along. We were always well dressed. She took pride in her and her family’s appearance.
Her sisters were her best friends. The skits and silly antics brought us all to tears. We all knew they would be up most the night, sharing stories and laughter into the early hours. Coffee brewing as the sun came up.
Marcile lived a life of determination and resilience. Overcoming obstacles, fighting to the end with quick wit, sense of humor, and strength. She was fiercely loyal and devoted. These values were extended to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Above all, our family knew we were accepted and loved.
She will be deeply missed. Her spunky spirit and values she instilled in us will continue on through generations. Her love held our family together and we will carry that love in our hearts for her and for each other.
Marcile is preceded in death by her son, Brent Todd Bonham. She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved so much.
Per Marcile’s request, memorial services will be held privately with her family. She will be laid to rest at Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 E 4580 S, Millcreek, UT 84117.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Marcile had a profound impact spanning generations in a way most of can only hope for. She was kind, funny, incredibly welcoming, and always quick to laugh. I am grateful for my time with her over the years, and the memories I was able to gather. She will leave a big hole in the fabric of many people's life, but that is a sign of a life well lived and well loved. I am sorry, she will be missed.
