During a short stay at a rehab center, on December 11, 2024, Nannette passed on to the next life to be reunited with her loved ones.
She was born to William J. Vonk Sr. & Alice Venema on August 9, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Nannette loved nature, gardening, sewing, house plants, art, cooking, fishing and reading. She worked hard as a young single mother making a living for her & her daughter. She spent quality time after work & on weekends with her daughter, playing Barbies, paper dolls, bike riding together to the Chapman Branch Library & to Lake Breeze to catch pollywogs. Nannette was an animal lover, especially of dogs, birds, and tropical fish.
At the age of 18, she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse & lettered as Best Student of her graduating class, with A honors. She chose to work in pediatrics & she worked at Primary Children's Hospital for 4 years.
Nannette then decided to serve an LDS Mission and was called to serve for 2 years in the Netherlands, the land of her ancestry.
After her mission, she returned to work at Holy Cross Hospital on the Pediatric Ward. She later worked for 16 years as a nurse for Dr. Richard T. Van Orden, ENT, until he retired his practice. She again, worked as a pediatric nurse for Dr. Clark Welling until she retired.
She was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints her entire life, serving as a teacher in the youth Mutual program , Relief Society teacher, president, & as a visiting teacher.
In 1986, she met her wonderful eternal companion, Gordon Farrell Holloway, and they were sealed together for Time & All Eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on October 11, 1986. She & Gordon served as missionaries for 18 months at the Provo Mission Training Center acting as a "role player" and later as a Shift Leader. They also served together as LDS Temple workers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband- Gordon , two brothers- Richard A. Vonk, & William J. Vonk Jr., step-sons- Greg S. Holloway, Brent W. Holloway (Rhonda), Todd E. Holloway, David A. Holloway & step-daughter- Lynda G. Lother.
She leaves behind one daughter, Alecia M. Powers (Robert), step-daughters, Cathy L. Stewart (Russell- deceased), Susan M. Loamanu, Tammy L. Peterson (Dusty deceased), & a step-son Gary D. Holloway (Amy), 29 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren & 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.), Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held at 9 a.m. & a Celebration of Nannette's Life at 10 a m. Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Nannette's dear friends & neighbors who helped & supported her throughout the years after Gordon's passing.
