Marilyn Kae Rigby, 77, longtime resident of Everett, Washington, passed away October 30, 2021, from pancreatic cancer. Marilyn was born August 8, 1944, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. She was raised in Pocatello, Idaho by Elaine and John Szymanski along with siblings Rosalie, John, Steve, Lois, Scott, and Marlene. She graduated from Pocatello High School and continued her education at Brigham Young University, Idaho State University, the University of Utah, and the University of Washington graduating in 1966 with a BA in English and Math. Before having children, she taught high school math and was one of the first female computer programmers for Boeing.

On August 14, 1964, she married James (Jim) Lester Rigby in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they raised seven sons and one daughter. Marilyn and Jim were always there to support their children in church, school and at athletic events. Each of their children knew that mom and dad were their biggest fans. They started a tradition in 1975 that continues today, meeting annually with their descendants in California to play games, surf in the ocean, eat good food and enjoy each other’s company.

Marilyn had a strong and beautiful testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings throughout her life and was a gifted teacher. She was a good friend who was always willing to include others. Her kindness and compassion were an example to all of us.

She loved to travel with her family, visiting all seven continents and viewing the wonders of the world. She had a particular interest in animals and through her adventures she was able to interact with lions, tigers, cheetahs, and penguins. She researched in preparation for each of her trips and enjoyed many guided church history tours. She had a thirst for knowledge, was a prolific reader, and shared experiences with those she cherished.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jim Rigby and sister Rosalie. She is survived by her children: Jim (Becky) Rigby, Mike (Kathy) Rigby, Rick (Michelle) Rigby, Dave (Annie) Rigby, Chris (Lizzy) Rigby, Susie (Jay) Larson, Doug (Lindsay) Rigby, and Mark (fiancé Mallory Douge) Rigby, as well as twenty-five grandchildren and four great grandchildren all of whom she adored and who adore her. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
