Marion Elfriede Jensen

1945 ~ 2023

Marion Elfriede Muecke Jensen left this world on May 10, 2023, after a long and challenging battle with Parkinson’s disease. She fought the good fight for the past 7 years of her illness and for the entirety of her 78 years of life. She has finally returned home to be with her Savior – something she has looked forward to her entire life.

Marion was born April 12, 1945, in Hamburg, Germany, to Karl P. Muecke and Elsa Frank. She was born during the midst of the largest air raid Hamburg had ever experienced, an air raid that ultimately resulted in the ending of World War II in Europe. She was a bright light in a dark time – and has been ever since.

Several years post World War II, she immigrated to America where her family eventually established their home in the Glendale neighborhood of SLC Utah. She was a spunky, energetic, and outgoing child and teenager who made lifelong friends as a result of the light she brought into their lives.

On September 3, 1964, Marion attended a church dance where she met a young returned missionary named Paul Jensen. Their first date was two days later, on September 5th, and they’ve been together ever since. Marion and Paul were married on January 15, 1965, in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the past 58 years, she and Paul worked diligently, prayerfully, and with great faith to raise a family of seven children - each who have become jewels in her eternal crown. Her ability to see her children, grandchildren, and anyone she ever met for who they are, as well as who they can become, is a trait and gift that has left a meaningful and lasting legacy worthy of the utmost praise.

Marion partnered often with our Savior Jesus Christ in faithfully serving wherever she could. This led to numerous church callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including working in the Church Education System, the Draper, Utah Temple, as well as leadership callings in Relief Society and Young Women’s programs. Her most cherished service opportunities were focused on finding, serving and loving “the one”. She particularly enjoyed mixing, mingling, and ministering to the youth as well as her fellow sisters in her neighborhood and ward. Later in life she had the opportunity of serving along with her husband on the Rome Italy Temple project for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and had great faith in Him, His Priesthood, and his redeeming Love.

Marion was skilled and talented in many areas. She started work at an early age as a teenage seamstress in the ZCMI tailor shop. This skill continued throughout her life, and she was often found sewing on behalf of her children, grandchildren, and neighbors. Whether it be wedding dresses, bridesmaids’ dresses, matching three-piece suits for her boys, Raggedy Ann dolls, or re-upholstering furniture, she had a knack for stitching both fabric and lives together. She was also a tireless and excellent cook and baker - providing memorable Thanksgiving meals complete with turkey, giblet gravy, and zillions of pies. One of the family’s favorite dinners was her traditional German Christmas Eve dinner complete with rouladen and red cabbage. The culinary item most appreciated and most requested by others was her signature Eclairs. Nobody makes them better. Nobody.

Marion accomplished a great deal in her lifetime, yet the most important thing to her was, and still is, her family – her husband, seven children, twenty-two grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. She lived, and still lives, for each one of them. They are her greatest joy, delight, and treasure.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents Karl and Elsa Muecke, her step-mother Gertrude Schieving, and her older brother, Claus Dieter Muecke. She is survived by her husband, Paul, her children Mike (Barb), Brad (Melissa), Kevin (Stephanie), Kirsten, Heather (Thomas) Mckenna, Nikki (Dusty) Stout, Libby (Josh) Slem, and her younger brother, David Norman Muecke.

Marion loved and helped ALL in need. She was “no respecter” of persons and was frequently moved with compassion to assist those who were on the margins. We will miss you our Sweet Marion, our Incomparable Mom, and our Dearest Friend - but look forward to seeing you again.
Thanks for all you’ve given and continue to give. You truly wore out your life in service. Till we meet again – at Jesus' feet.
We Love You.

Guestbook/Condolences

I’m sorry to hear of aunt Marion’s passing. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to uncle Paul and all the Jenson family.

- Robert Muecke

My condolences to you and your whole family. Marion was a lovely woman. I only met her a few years ago. David, her brother shared fun. Memories of both of them when they were children. She shared a lot of her ancestry with me and I was able to take some nice photos of her photos from long ago. Rest in peace Marion. May you be with the Lord.

I remember all they times we played as children. I always considered Marion one of my friends. She always had the best smile and was always happy. When Chuck, Clause, and I decided to get married she said, " It's about time, the two have you have been chasing each other all your lives". I wish I could be there but circumstances weren't favorable to traveling. Paul ,you and your family are in my heart, I send my Love to you and may our Father in Heaven bless and comfort you at this time.
