Mark Artie Peck passed away on March 13, 2022, after suffering a heart attack. The last six months of his life he spent courageously fighting a brutal illness.

Mark was born July 27, 1946, to Artie Leroy Peck and Vaudis Lucille Kilpack Peck. He was born into a family that adored one another. His childhood was full of cherished memories shared with his dear siblings, cousins, and friends, many of which were spent playing in “The Hollow.” He always said that he was raised in the Celestial Kingdom in Holladay, Utah. He along with his mischievous yet innocent friends were known as “The Holladay Boys.”

He went on to proudly serve an LDS mission in the North British area of England. He had a fierce love for this country and an earnest hope for the preservation of our God-given constitution. He served 7 years in the Air Force that solidified his reverence and patriotism for this great land.

It was love at first sight when he met his beauty Hanne Bendtsen, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 21, 1968. Their earthly marriage lasted just shy of 54 years, with an eternity to go. His posterity, consisting of 5 children, 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, was his pride and joy.

He was a talented carpenter and contractor and spent his life building masterpieces. Mark wasn’t always dealt the easiest hand on his earthly journey, but with his sweetheart by his side, he could make it through anything. His sense of humor was unmatched and, along with his contagious smile, it is one of the things we will all miss the very most about him. His happy place was being surrounded by his family, camping in God’s country. Good music and good food were a passion. He was blessed with a green thumb and made bread like it was an art. His wise and kind heart warranted admiration, and he was looked up to by many. He had a gift when it came to seeing the good in people and loving them for who they are.

He is respected and cherished as the patriarch of his family. He proclaimed his testimony and love of his Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ until his last breath. He will be so dearly missed, and we all eagerly await the day when we are in his presence once again.

Mark is survived by his wife, Hanne; their 4 children Chris Peck (Jenn), Mike Peck, Ammie Knaphus (Jim), Ted Peck (Nicole); 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Janis Hancock, Carol Lee, Tauna Perry (Dave); and brother Dave Peck (Evelyn). Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Vaudis Peck; son, Ronald Peck; and grandson, Benjamin Peck. What a joyous reunion that welcomed him home!

Viewing will be held Friday, March 18, 2022, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the Draper 8th Ward, 1272 East Walden Lane, Draper, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing to be held prior from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens.

It was my good fortune to have met Mark when he and I were both very young and living in Holladay. He's right when he says Holladay was the "Celestial Kingdom" on earth We and a large group of friends had wonderful times together.
All of our lives are made better by many of those we meet on the journey. Mine was enhanced because I knew Mark Artie Peck.
Thanks, Mark.
Kerry and I send our sincere condolences to Hanne and Family.

I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the Peck family. I had the blessing to meet Mark and family during a trial that he endured courageously. The love and support I witnessed from his family I will never forget. As difficult as it was it truly was inspirational to witness.

I first met Mark in Cullercoats England in late 1966, he taught me the Gospel of Jesus Christ and introduced me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He baptised me in September 1966 and we have remained friends and Brothers ever since. I'll miss him and his big laugh and will look for him when I pass through the veil. Bye for now Mark, see you again one fine day.

Could not agree more with the assessment of Mark's character and reputation as was so beautifully put in his obituary. I cannot picture this man without him having a big, welcoming smile. I regret we didn't spend more time during our adult lives, with he and Hannah. It seemed obvious they worshipped one another. Maxine and I extend heartfelt condolences to his beautiful wife, children and grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends. We will all miss Mark. Nice to know we will all meet again. Love, Oran and Maxine Peck.

Dear Hanne and Family,
How profoundly aware your cousins became of this finite time we have on this earth when we heard of Mark’s passing. He was always a ray of sunshine with a smile so bright and a contagious laugh that pulled you in. We are so saddened and know the road ahead without him in your midst will be difficult. But what a great family he leaves with you Hanne. He will always be close by to you. Mark’s siblings, we love you all and what a great group you all are. Keep on keeping on! We will all hear the voices of those we have so loved and missed in this life, in God’s time frame. We hold you close to our hearts and in our prayers. May God’s comfort surround you all and give you strength of carry on. Mark is trusting in that.

I was one of the now famous Holladay Boys and remember the great fun in the Hollow with Mark and the other crazies of our era. Mark was a good friend and very fun to be around. He came from a wonderful family and great parents. So sorry to hear of his passing. He will be missed. One of the best falsetto singers of his time. He was a Holladay Eve star.

My uncle Mark is a beacon of light and love. He was tireless in his pursuit of knowledge and love for the gospel, and an exceptional constitutional scholar in his own right. Liberty and America's founding principles were a great passion and he practiced and valued honor and virtue above all. His home was an amazing place, filled with peace and boundless love. A place where the spirit of the lord was always present. It was safe and secure, impenetrable and guarded night and day by the holy ghost. When you got to Uncle Mark and Aunt Hanne's house, nothing scary in this mortal world could bother you.
When I return home someday, I know will arrive to find him with a huge bright smile on his face while busily attending to the most important affairs of heaven as one of God's most favored Angels. Mark touched the lives of everyone he knew and was a truly amazing teacher. His lessons, counsel and example are pillars in the construct of the man that I grew up to be. Until we meet again; I love you uncle Mark!

Everyone loved Mark Peck . He had a very wonderful smile and personality and we loved to be with him and his great family. The last part of his life was cut too short because of a horrible virus that had no mercy on him and cut his life way to soon. We are comforted to know that we will be with him and his great family once again. May God bless the Peck family and all who had the good fortune to know Mark and will one day be with him again !
