Saturday Celebration of Life and Open House

The Chateau at The Rose Shop, 1910 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT
Feb 4, 2023 12:00 PM - 3:30 PM

Mark, aka Grandpa Horsey, passed away very suddenly on Jan 21, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Mark served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and was very proud of his time served. After being honorably discharged, he pursued a short career in weapons development with American Arms. By the mid 1970's, Mark's visionary ambitions brought him to the realm of commercial real estate development. Mark’s daughter Malinda joined him in 1999, to then create the family named real estate business/brokerage that has helped change the skyline across Salt Lake County for the last 24 years.

Mark had a special love for the outdoors and was always found in the summer months enjoying the Big Horn Ranch riding 4-wheelers or hunting, or cruising Lake Powell, or any other outdoor activity or travel that involved time with family and friends. Mark was an avid Utah Jazz basketball fan and has held season tickets since the 1980s. Anyone in Mark's close personal circle knows how much time he dedicated to being one of the best Utah Jazz fans out there.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents Gerald Fielding Green and Carol Jackman Hansen, as well as 2 sisters, and one brother. Mark is survived by his 2 daughters Malinda Green-Edmundson and Marni Green, stepson Justin Sutherland, 2 sisters Kathy and Kristy, and brother Tracy, 5 grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and so many close family friends that are all considered part of the Green family. You will forever be missed Dad, and we will feel the loss of you in our lives every day!

Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, (10600 South), Sandy, Utah. A viewing/gathering will be from 9:30 am to 11:00 am for all who'd like to pay respects to the family. Family and friends, please join us for an open-house Celebration of Life at Le Jardin (located to the west of the mortuary) from 12:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mark's passing. I have so many childhood memories of Mark. Still to this day, whenever I go up deep canyon, I can't help but remember Mark's deer camp and all the memories on the mountain.
Rest in peace ol friend.

When we were kids, I always got excited to visit Uncle Gerry, Mark, Kathy and Terry. Time passes and we all have separate ways, but we're happy to have the almost annual Green reunion where we were together, minus Terry, he having left this world way too soon. Whenever we were together we talked of me visiting the Big Horn and spending some time with Mark, where my dad and I regularly hunted deer before the area was purchased by the Big Horn. That's an oft repeated sentiment about procrastination. I was stunned to hear of Mark's illness; I did not know. I miss him already.

May God be with your family at this time of loss. He was a good man.

My heart goes out to the family. Mark was an amazing man. He was very supportive of our youth boxing program and was instrumental in helping the Fullmer boxing club help make a difference in the lives of some disadvantaged young people. He was a good freind and always concerned about about those that had challenges. He will be missed.

Our hearts are broken at the news. Mark was not only a dear friend but the best neighbor ever!!! Since buying the house across the street from him we became close friends and his smiley face and ever present friendly attitude brought joy to our hearts. We love you Mark!!! You will be missed.
