Marla Ann Mann (Bangerter), born on July 30, 1940, lost her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2026, in Pueblo West, Colorado. She was 85 years old.
Marla was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and attended West High School. She and her husband, Mike Mann, shared more than 62 years of marriage—a love story that began in their middle and high school days. Together, their life took them far beyond Utah, living in California, Arizona, Thailand, Colorado, and Nevada. Along the way, Marla also had the joy of traveling the world, visiting places like Malaysia, Belgium, Australia, Bali, Singapore, Italy, United Kingdom, Germany, Hong Kong, France and New Zealand, among many others.
Marla’s greatest pride was her family—her husband, her children, and the warm, loving home she so thoughtfully created for each of them. In later years, her joy only grew with the addition of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than spending time with them or seeing their photos; her heart was always full of love and pride for each one.
After dedicating years to raising her children, Marla returned to college, where she earned her bachelor’s degree with Magna Cum Laude honors and went on to become a licensed elementary school teacher. She had a natural gift for connecting with children and found special joy in teaching kindergarten. Marla especially loved sharing the hilarious and heartwarming stories about the international students she taught. There is no doubt she made a lasting impression on the many young lives she touched.
Marla was a truly gifted creator, known for her boundless creativity and generosity. Many people were fortunate to receive her thoughtfully handcrafted cards, each one a small work of art. Every holiday, without fail, she sent her children and grandchildren homemade cards, always tucked with a five-dollar bill as a special surprise. Her talents extended beyond cards—Marla crafted stunning quilts, intricately designed table runners, and delicate porcelain dolls dressed in beautiful, hand-sewn outfits. She poured her heart into creating meaningful, personalized gifts for every holiday and special occasion. The act of crafting these treasures and sharing them with others was a source of deep joy for Marla, and her creations will forever be cherished by those lucky enough to receive them.
Throughout her life, Marla’s warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those who knew her. The most important things she taught all around her—through both her words and her example—were loyalty, grace, and kindness. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared with her family and friends. May Marla’s memory bring comfort to all who loved her.
Marla was a cherished mother to her three children: Kelly (Rondi) Mann, Steve Mann, and Michelle (Mike) Mann Madril. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to Parker (Laura) Mann, Marshall (Erin) Mann, Rhiannon (Brad) Mann, Lydia (Chris) Parker, Grant (Serenna) Baggett, and Trent (Mackinley) Baggett, as well as a loving great-grandmother to Carter Mann, Isla Mann, Winter Anderson, Artemis Parker, and Maverick Mann.
Marla grew up in Salt Lake City as the daughter of Arnold and Dorothy (Husband) Bangerter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents: Russell and Geneva (Hedilus) Husband and Arnold and Hazel (Meads) Bangerter. Marla shared a warm connection with her siblings—Roger Bangerter (Barbara), Joan Ritchins, and Russell Bangerter (Patti)—who survive her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marla’s memory online to St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital (to send an E-card with your donation in Marla’s name use the email ForMarlaMann@gmail.com).
Marla’s services will be held in Salt Lake City and Bountiful on May 8, 2026. A viewing (open house) will be from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Larkin Mortuary and graveside services will be held at the Bountiful City Cemetery at 1:00 pm
