Martha Elaine Leetham Smith

1929 ~ 2024

Elaine was born on January 17, 1929 to Stephen Holt Leetham and Mary

Ann Smith Horman in Salt Lake City, Utah. She passed away peacefully early in the morning on Friday February 16, 2024. She spent her last remaining hours among many friends and family at Brighton House Assisted Living.

Elaine grew up in Murray, Utah and graduated from Murray High School in 1947. During her senior year of High School, she met her future husband Junior B. "Bud" Smith and they were married on November 29, 1947 in Murray. They started their family right away and over time had five children: Terry, Roger, Paula, Randy and Christy. She was a very good seamstress and enjoyed sewing many clothes for her family and Barbie clothes which she sold for extra money.

Mom and Dad lived in several places throughout Utah and Colorado in their early years due to Dad's work. Mom was a very loving and attentive wife and supported Dad through all his endeavors including in Scouts where she served as a Cub Scout Leader.

They loved to travel with family and friends in their motor home in their later years and saw much of the United States in their travels. But most of all Mom loved our Lord and Savior and had an incredible faith in Salvation for all who accept Christ. She was a long-time member of the Baptist Church and had many dear friends there. Mom enjoyed living at Brighton House and loved the staff and her friends there and they absolutely loved her. She made many wonderful friendships in the 2 years she was there.

Elaine is survived by her children Terry (Camille) Smith, Roger (Val) Smith, Paula (Jim) Hilton, Christy Love - Also 11 Grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Bud and an infant son Randy Joel - also her parents and siblings and spouses: Stephen Edmund, Ann (Roy), Stephen Vernal, Merrill (Vickie), Faye, and Duane (Midge)

Guestbook/Condolences

Aunt Elaine will be remembered for a long time. I always knew her to be very kind and loving, even when we, as children, were running all through her house causing havoc. She had the patience of a Saint!
Rest in peace, sweet Auntie.
