Mary Esther Gonzales

1939 ~ 2022

Our precious and beautiful mother, beloved wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her home the early morning of Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at the age of 82. Please join us in celebrating our sweet mother returning to our Lord Jesus Christ and being embraced by and reunited with her loving husband, Andres. She was the youngest daughter of Eustaquio Quintana and Camila Casias Quintana and was born in Durango, Colorado on October 2, 1939. She grew up in Arboles and Ignacio, Colorado and met her beloved soulmate while attending high school there.

She married the love of her life, Andres Juan Gonzales in Arboles, Colorado in 1959. They started their family in Delaware and moved to Utah in 1961. They raised five children: Raymond (Evie) Gonzales, Shirley (Eli) Martinez, Andy Joe (Chris) Gonzales, Deanna (Ronnie) Bray, and Tisha (Bill) Kirth. She had 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Our mother’s life was about loving her family! Mary was a farm girl growing up. She grew up milking cows, stacking hay bales, riding tractors, raising cattle, and taking care of the farm. Mary spent her working career as a computer engineer. She was such a classy lady that was always very well-dressed. She was so into fashion and was a strong and successful woman. She loved going to Wendover and shopping. When she lost the love of her life, her heart was shattered, and she just wanted to spend time with her family. In retirement she was so passionate about her gardening. She had an amazing green thumb and could grow anything! She was a beautiful soul and was so caring and concerned of her family’s wellbeing. All she wanted that made her life complete, was to see and talk to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Grandchildren; Eli E. (Zeline) Martinez, Nasario Martinez, Antonio Hernandez (Crystal), Xavier Gonzales (Denise), Xedus Gonzales, Samantha (Brian) Johnson, Dajia Hernandez, Danielle Gonzales, Francesca (Dave) Beckstead, Isaias Martinez (Liz), Ciarra Bray (Alex), Andre Gonzales

Great-grandchildren: Jaiya Martinez, Rickie Hernandez, Alyah Ramirez, Evalyn Ramirez, Divyne Hernandez, Diego Ramirez, Eliza Martinez, Nasario Jr. Martinez, Thomas Gorst, Natalie Martinez, Jude Martinez, Amena Hernandez, Tobias Gonzales, Camila Gonzales, Nora Gray Martinez, Ozzie Martinez, Amilla Martinez, Anastasia Beckstead

Mary was preceded in death by the love of her life, Andres Juan Gonzales, her parents Eustaquio and Camila Quintana, brother Charlie Quintana, sister-in-law Betty Jo Quintana, and sister Lorraine McCaleb.
