Mary Ybarra

1943 ~ 2023

Mary Ybarra, a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on August 9, 2023 in the comfort of her home in So. Jordan, Utah surrounded by her loving husband and children. She departed this world at age 80 years old, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories.

Born on Feb. 20, 1943, the youngest of six children, Mary brought light and laughter into the lives of all who knew her. As a dedicated wife and mother, she poured her heart into creating a warm and welcoming home where family and friends always felt valued, loved and well fed. Her warm spirit, kind smile, and nurturing nature extended beyond her own family, as she shared her love and support with friends and strangers alike.

Mary’s tireless efforts and boundless determination not only transformed individual lives but also created a ripple effect of positivity and friendship amongst many people she met. Her desire to make a difference led Mary to assist in teaching migrant school students and special education students for many years. She volunteered at Sutter Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Red Hat Society and Friends of the Military Clubs in Tracy. She was also a long-time employee of Grantline Pharmacy which later became Safeway Pharmacy.

In her life up to her last breath, Mary found solace and strength in her Catholic faith and it was this faith that guided her through life’s joys and challenges. Her unwavering belief in the power of prayer and the importance of helping others were evident in her actions.

Mary is survived by the love of her life, Ruben Ybarra, who remarried Mary three years ago after a long separation, and her children: Anthony Ybarra (Sobhana), Alex Ybarra, Corinne Larson (Doug), and Lenny Ybarra (Sherrie), and two grandchildren, Eric and Alyssa. Her two living siblings Ray Adame and Georgia Ybarra, and many cousins, nieces and nephews share in the grief of her passing and hold close the memories of a sister and relative whose compassion knew no bounds.

In honor of Mary’s life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, 11:00 AM at the Tracy Memorial Chapel in Tracy, Ca. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate her legacy of love and kindness.

While Mary may have left this world, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched. Let us remember her with smiles, laughter, and the knowledge that her legacy of love will continue to inspire us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a Cancer Society of their choice.

Rest in peace, dear Mary. May you now know a peace this world cannot offer. Your life was a masterpiece of love and your memory will forever inspire us to be better, kinder, and more giving individuals.
