Mateaki He Lotu Langi

1960 ~ 2023

Mateaki He Lotu Langi, age 63, passed away on October 14, 2023, in Murray, Utah. She was born on May 13, 1960, in Ha’ateiho, Tongatapu, to Sione Kini Masima and Seini Ahofo’ou Masima. She married Sione Talia’uli Langi on September 18, 1980, in Nukualofa, Tongatapu.

Mateaki was born with many talents. Some of her talents consist of things she loved including crafts and music! She had a real eye for making her own personal wears like ta’ovala, kahoa, ngatu, etc.! She was born with the gift of singing and loved music! She shared her music by composing her own songs and figuring out the music by ear, and also leading choirs and teaching others to sing.

Her greatest talent was the faith and dedication she put towards growing towards our Savior by reading and memorizing the scriptures. She loved the Lord by serving in all capacity!! She loved her families and understood that families can be together forever.

Mateaki is survived by her spouse Sione Talia’uli Langi and her nine kids, Rodney Langi, Yvonne Falekaono, Kafoatu Langi, Ui Langi, Lina Mafi, Sonny Langi, Seini Langi, Inafo Langi, Barbara Langi; her 27 grandkids and one great-grandchild expected in January; and her siblings Ui Latu Ahouano Masima, Timote Masima, Esther Maile, Kalisi Finau Toli, Sefo Maika Masima, Loumaile Pekipaki, Joe Whyte Masima, Kilioni Masima, Sione Kini Masima Jr., and Kolohufanga Masima.

Mateaki’s passing was preceded by her parents, Sione Kini Masima and Seini Ahofo’ou Masima, her son Pauliasi Langi, and three of her siblings, Matini, Lauia, and Eneio.

The family service will be held on Friday, October 27, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM at the Granger 8th Ward, 3150 Whitehall Drive, West Valley City, UT. The bishop’s service will follow from 12:30-1:30 PM. Burial will take place at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City, UT.
