Dear Sharla,
While I did not personally know Matt very well, my Dad (and mom) loved and respected him very much. Often we would drive past your house and my dad would say something kind about him or just how much he admired him. My first thought upon hearing Matt died was that I’m sure my Dad was one of the many souls that ran to meet Matt at the veil and welcome him home to the kingdom.
Wishing you and your family love and peace through the coming days.
Love, Stacy Ludlow

Obituary
Matthew Christian Arnold was born February 4th, 1976 to Cindy Roundy and Philip Arnold. Matthew died peacefully in his bedroom on October 29, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Sharla Bea Arnold, and his children, Olivia Emma (Madison Kaye), Robert “Davis”, and Sawyer Christian.
Matthew, as part of his dedication to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served a mission in Lansing, Michigan. During this time, he came to form many lifelong bonds with both his fellow missionaries, and the people he taught. His mission also serves as a demonstration of his unwavering determination to help others in their times of need, which is best seen in both his career as a mortgage officer, and his work running the nonprofit, SpideySLC.
Through SpideySLC, which Matt founded in 2011, he visited children and adults of countless backgrounds and dispositions wearing the mask and name of Spider-Man. Through his nonprofit, he also took up gymnastics to fulfill his desire to be as much of a bona fide Spider-Man as he physically could.
As a man of many names, it is natural that Matt would also have a tag as an artist. Through his shenanigans on a certain day in Las Vegas, he happened to gain the alias as Billy Luber, which has arguably become as well known as his real name. It is under this alias that his second life came to exist, and how he met some of his closest friends. Only a year after his traumatic brain injury in 2016, Matt was asked by the crew of the Discovery show Diesel Brothers to spray paint the garage doors at their shop. Through this request, Matt had his life changed, as he was given an outlet for his creative expression. His many works include his art with the Diesel Brothers, many personal murals he did for friends of his, and the Zammoth, considered to be his most famous piece yet.
Spray paint is not the only art form he excelled in, however. Matt also held great skill in leather burning, etching, clay sculpting, drawing, and music. With Marcus, a close friend of his, Matt became part of the indie cover band Dumb Enuff, comprised of a bunch of dads who wanted to have some fun. His role was quite the significant one as well, acting as a guitarist and vocalist. Together, the band played for two years in backyard bashes or for smaller events, until one of their last performances in June of this year to celebrate Matt’s life.
It should be acknowledged that none of this would have at all been possible were it not for Matt’s love of others, and his connection with the people around him. In every conversation, he made it clear that he earnestly cared about what the other person was saying, even if the topic was about something that did not interest him. In every word he spoke, people around him could feel the boundless love he held in his heart. That love helped form some of his most treasured friendships with people who would not hesitate to visit him even during his last days.
There were none he loved more so than his family. Whether that be playing board games with Olivia and Madison, collecting figures with Sawyer, discussing games and art with Davis, or building props and costume pieces for Sharla. He went the extra mile for each and every person who was a part of the Arnold family, through trial and hardship, through weddings and funerals. Matt always sought to do what was best for his family, no matter what that ultimately meant. He was always willing to fight in their corner, even if he found himself standing against impossible odds.
So ends the adventure of the most well traveled man that many people had known. Despite dying at the very young age of fifty, it would be a lie to say Matt did not have a life worth living. May his passionate spirit continue to embolden us even after his burial, that we might travel through this world with love in our hearts.

Matt was one of a kind. He was genuine, fun, loving and loyal. A true friend. He was kind to all and didn't judge just loved. He was a great example to me in the way one should live and approach life. I will miss my friend.
Matt is one of a kind. I feel blessed to know him. Love and prayers to his incredible family.
My first memory of Matt is him watching little Sawyer through the glass window into the nursery at church. He was smiling and making silly faces at him. Such a proud papa and he radiated pure joy. I picture him in heaven with that same smile cheering Sharla and the kids on. Sending Love to the family.
Please accept my sincerest condolences and know that we are here for you. May care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. Words may not suffice to express the heartfelt sorrow that I feel for the passing of your loved one.
God bless your family!
I remember Matt soon after he and his family moved into the neighborhood. Matt was called to teach the Elders quorum and did a great job. I always enjoyed talking with Matt and visiting with his family. Our sincere condolences to the Arnold family. You will be missed, Spider-Man!
Matt was one of my favorite mission companions. I had been out four months and he had been out three—we barely knew what we were doing. But while teaching the Ruiz family the gospel of Jesus Christ, we shared one of the most profound and meaningful experiences of my life. That experience has been a foundation of my testimony for the past thirty years, and it forged a lifelong bond with Matt, whom I’m proud to call my brother.
I’m so sorry to hear of Matt’s passing. He was such a pleasant person. Whenever I had the privilege of seeing him at different family gatherings over the years, If I spotted him, it was always so rewarding to make sure I made a point to connect with him and chat a bit. I truly came to enjoy our brief chat over the years. What a good heart that man had.
I’m so sorry to hear of Matt’s passing. He was such a pleasant person. Whenever there was a family gathering and I’d spot Matt somewhere in the crowd, it became important to me to connect with him for a hug and a little chat. Those little visits have been very rewarding to me. I know he will be missed by so many. What a good heart that man had.
I am so sorry to hear of Matthew's passing. Sending love and comfort to Sharla and her family
Sharla and family, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Matt was the brightest light and he could always make me laugh until I had tears rolling down my face! After knowing him for almost 30 years, I feel blessed to have so many great memories. Love you!
Matt is definitely one of a kind. I still fondly think of things he would say growing up. Always has a smile. My heart goes out to his family!
I always remember how kind Billy was so kind when he spent time sharing his process with us about how he tackled, painting, beautiful canvases like he did for us with “La Guagüita” our Ute themed bus tailgater-Rv! Thank you Billy for sharing your love and art with the world!
We want to wish the whole family our deepest sympathy! Our family fell in love with Matt, when he became friends of our brother Kade. What a wonderful man who will be greatly missed. We show the video of the Fox News broadcast that has Matt talking about Kade, twice a year at judge memorial high school as we talk about Kade’s addiction to students. We have watched how positive and brave Matt has been through all of this. I personally was so grateful to get to give Matt a hug at the golden gloves tournament. Be thankful for the knowledge of eternal families! God bless you all. Larry Fullmer and the Fullmer family
