Valerie, age 86 passed away at home in South Jordan, Utah surrounded by loved ones, December 28, 2023. Valerie was born June 23, 1937 in Davis County, Utah to Parker Moroni Pratt and Mary Clarissa Whitaker.

Valerie graduated from Davis High School and attended the University of Utah. She married William Walter Wagner, later divorced. She married Albert Eugene Schilling on May 23, 1980 joining together eight children, each of which she loved dearly. She and Al celebrated 43 years of marriage.

Valerie was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was joyful in fulfilling her many callings in the church. She loved attending the temple.

Valerie was an accomplished pianist serving as ward organist, music and choir director and many other music callings in many different wards through the years. She started her musical career at the early age of three taking piano lessons from her grandmother. She also taught piano for many years. She watched many of her students become accomplished pianists. She sang with Jay Welch Corral and also a singing group called Sing For Joy. She had a lifelong love for all types of music.

As a teen she worked at Hill Air Force Base and later in administration, at Cottonwood Hospital and Alta View Hospital which she helped set up and open. She later retired from Alta View Hospital.

She traveled to many places around the world with her husband, AL as he worked in the construction industry.

Valerie had a great love for animals and had many pets over the years. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, boating and traveling in their motorhome. She and her husband Al served as camp host at Island Park, Idaho for 11 years and had many good friends there.

Everyone who met Val liked her and she was kind to all. She will be dearly missed.

Valerie was preceded in death by her parents Parker Moroni Pratt and Mary Clarissa Pratt and stepfather Robert Pelton, brother-in-law Robert Miller, also grandson Christopher Cannon and stepson Michael Schilling.

Valerie is survived by her husband Albert Schilling; sister Marcia Miller; and children Jeffrey “Jeff” and wife Sonia Wagner, Julia and husband Patrick “Pat” Vaughn, Douglas and wife Cindy Wagner, and Wendy Arrington. Also stepchildren Penny and husband Mike Davis, Lynn and wife Jodie Schilling and Mark and wife Rita Schilling. Valerie has 19 Grandchildren, 32 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great-Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6th at 11:00 AM at the Jordan River 11th Ward Building, at 1553 West 11400 South, South Jordan, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the funeral starting at 9:45 AM. Interment to follow services at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy, UT.
