  • Our beloved lil mom, 98 years young, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2021 in Depoe Bay, Oregon. Her daughters, Madelyn and Melynda, son Bill and grandson Kevin King at her side. She was born April 17, 1923 to Walter and Trena Pace.

Graduated from East High School and attended U.S.C. She married “her David” on June 19, 1943, later solemnized in Los Angeles Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, served in many positions. She served in two camps of Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was a loyal member of Zeta tau Fraternity for 78 years. This brought her great joy.

She was a summertime, sunshine girl spreading love and kindness wherever she went. She loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, astronomy and sitting in front of the ocean. She was always knitting and crocheting, making sweaters, slippers, baby blankets, booties, and dish cloths. She made each of her children a hooked rug. We love you momma, God breaks our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

    Guestbook/Condolences

Maurine was my dear and precious friend for more than 40 years. She was an ever-present, smiling face every summer in our ward in Lincoln City. She came to church every Sunday, and brought sunshine to all our mid-week activities. She joined our choir whenever she was here, and shared her lovely voice and beautiful smile. She cared deeply about all of her friends here, calling us her “Friendly Family,” because, even though we were not her actual family, we were more than just friends. She will always be part of us.
I love and miss you, my sweet Maurine.
    Until we meet again,
    June

    Dear Platt family

we loved your Mom so much--such a kind, gracious, fun and inspiring person. She was/is full of light. I am so grateful for her example and testimony. She loved the Lord and made sure that we all knew it, especially our youth, who she personally encouraged as often as she could. This world will miss her but I am thrilled that she's finally on the other side, where life is better. God bless you all

    Dear Maurine's family,

I have known Maurine for about 26 years (moved her shortly after her beloved David had died). She was a truly an "elected" lady. Always had a great greeting and a wonderful smile on her face. For years and years she sang Happy Birthday to every member of the 25th Ward. We all looked forward to her call.

She set a high example for us to follow as did you as a caring family taking care of her in her later years. You are a very special and much appreciated family. Much love, Marie Davis

May I join your family and friends in extending my love and respect to you on behalf of our beloved neighbor and friend Trena and her delightful daughter Maurine. So Maurine lived t be 98--impressive! My memories are many and bright of our association on 1800 East. I am still there and will always miss the Pace family.
