  • Melissa Dawn Allen, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, unexpectedly passed away the morning of June 30, 2021. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she has touched.

    Melissa was born February 23, 1982, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Victor and Cindy Alvey. She was one of five children. Growing up in Taylorsville, Utah, she attended Taylorsville High School. She completed school and got her degree as a dental hygienist. She also obtained her license as a real estate agent.

    She married the love of her life, Jon Allen, on September 24, 2016.

    She loved hiking and camping in the outdoors. She was an avid animal lover and was particularly fond of spiders. She was a gifted writer and was very passionate about it. She had even started writing a horror novel about spiders. She loved to read, especially thrillers and mysteries. She enjoyed listening to music. She was the most caring person. She always wanted the best for everyone and loved to make people smile.

    She was so unselfish, always wanting to help people and always putting others before herself. She had amazing resilience and was a fighter. She always stood up for the underdog. She loved get togethers and celebrating holidays with family. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and she was friendly to everyone, welcoming everyone with open arms. Most of all, she loved spending time with her two sons. They were her life and meant everything to her. All those that knew her, adored her. She was beautiful, inside and out, and was the most kind person with the biggest heart. She was a beautiful soul.

    Melissa is survived by her husband, Jon, and her two sons, Caden Alvey and Terrik Allen, her parents Victor and Cindy Alvey, brothers Joe Gonzales and Chris (Trisha) Alvey, sisters Kim (Derrik) Box and Ashley (Greg) Holt, as well as 5 nephews, 2 nieces and 1 great niece.

    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021, beginning at 11 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy. A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening at the mortuary from 6-8 PM as well as Thursday prior to the services beginning at 10 AM. Interment to follow services at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Sandy.
