Murray Stephens McInnes

1932 ~ 2015

Murray Stephens McInnes, age 83, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend passed away on December 15, 2015 in Kent, WA.

He was born December 9, 1932 in Eager, Arizona to Isabelle Maxwell and James King McInnes, the fifth of six children. He served an LDS mission in England and earned his Bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University. He married Mary Sorensen on May 24, 1957 in the Salt Lake Temple, they had two children.

Murray was always hard working and dedicated to his job. He worked for several companies including J.C. Penney, Marriott, and Pfizer before venturing out into the entrepreneur world. He was an owner, buyer, and manager of many retail clothing stores, dry cleaning businesses, and had real estate investments in Salt Lake City and surrounding areas.

Murray loved his beach house in Mexico which he shared with family and friends. It was a second home to him where he also helped many of the local people by donating items, providing jobs, and more.

He loved the preforming arts, as well as gardening and interior design. He enjoyed being outdoors and was very active with his wife, Mary. Murray will be remembered for his sense of humor and keen sense of style. He found joy in serving and helping others. He will be missed by many!

Murray is survived by his children, Miccilene (Rick) Edwards, of Federal Way, WA and Marcus (Patty) McInnes, of Albany, OR; grandchildren, Zeke (Jamie) Edwards, Taylor Edwards, Conner (Kylee) Edwards, Austin Edwards, Lauren (Kade) Hadley, Rachel (Dan) Patton, Jennifer Matheus, Jocelyn Bailey; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jane Lund-Lee of CA/AZ, brother Max (Nancy) McInnes of Prescott, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

Murray was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Mary, sister Hanna Bradshaw, and brothers James (Bud) McInnes and Andrew McInnes.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 am at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Friends and family may visit from 9:30am to 10:45am prior to the services. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawn Cemetery, 2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City.
