Michael “Mike” Wynn Curtis

1961 ~ 2023

Michael “Mike” Wynn Curtis, of Boise, ID, passed away on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at the age of 62 after a decades long battle with auto-immune disease and cancer. Mike is survived by his wife and love of his life, Annette Curtis; his three children Lyndon (Shayla) Curtis, Kade (Jacob) Wilson, and Collin Curtis; and 5 beautiful grandchildren. He will be forever remembered by his father Gene (Bunny) Curtis and his siblings Dave (Tammy) Curtis, Wesley (Diane) Curtis, Steven Curtis, and Christine (Darryl) Moody. Mike was predeceased by his beloved mother Helen Ruth Curtis.

Mike spent many years diligently working and curating his skills in the restaurant industry. He served in many positions including as restaurant manager, area manager, and food safety inspector. Even after his diagnosis of granulomatosis with polyangiitis, Mike continued to work hard in his career. Though his illnesses would eventually quadruple, leading him to place his successful career on hold, he would never give up. Despite restrictive health conditions and demanding treatments, he would go on to attend every event for his children, return to school to earn multiple degrees and certifications in the computer sciences, amass his collection of vintage coins, and tirelessly tend to his beautiful vegetable and flower gardens.

Mike was notorious for his never-ending quest for the best hiding place of his treasured chocolate candies, one such hiding place being his wife’s sock drawer. He was also well-known for his competitive nature, never one to lose at games even if that meant sneaking in a point here or there. Those who knew him frequently said of Mike that if he was talking he was joking, as one of the things that brought him the most joy was pranking and teasing everyone around him with his dry sense of humor.

Mike was a deeply caring man, though he shied away from public recognition of such, preferring to be known and remembered for his prankster nature. To show honor and recognition of this incredible man who fought through every medical diagnosis with the determination to be his own miracle, a man who led his life with strength, love, and humor, his family would like to direct anyone who so wishes to make a donation in memory of Mike to the Vasculitis Foundation.

Mike will be interred, and all funeral services held, at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, UT. A viewing will be held on Friday, the 12th of May from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held the following day, Saturday the 13th, at 10am.
