Michael Nathan Robinson

Michael Nathan Robinson was born on April 19, 1957, in Lynwood, California, the youngest of five children born to Edwin and Beverly Robinson. Growing up alongside his siblings—Laurey, Candy, Christy, and Mark—he learned early lessons about hard work, family love, and respect for all people while navigating life in Downey, California.

Though his youth included a period of wandering and poor decisions—which he often humorously and candidly referred to as his "lost years"—his life changed trajectory dramatically in early 1976 through a profound spiritual awakening and a growing testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Following his spiritual turning point, Mike answered a call to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New York, New York City Mission from 1976 to 1978. His mission transformed his life, deepening his love for the Savior and strengthening a testimony that would anchor him through every future trial.

Upon returning home, Mike joyfully reunited with the love of his life, Laura. After receiving a distinct spiritual witness confirming she was the one he should marry, the couple was sealed for time and all eternity on December 1, 1978, in the Los Angeles Temple. Together, Mike and Laura built a remarkable partnership of faith, resilience, and devotion.

Mike attended Brigham Young University, completing three years of rigorous studies in less than two while welcoming their first child, Nickie. Relocating back to California, Mike partnered with his brother Mark to establish Robinson Brothers Construction (RBC), building a successful business grounded in hard work and integrity. As their family grew with the additions of Megan, Matt, and Tyler, Mike also dedicated countless hours to serving his community and church. He served faithfully in numerous callings, including as a bishop, high councilor, scoutmaster, and youth leader, touching the lives of hundreds of young people.

Mike lived a life full of vibrant passions and adventurous pursuits. He had an absolute love, bordering on obsession, for scuba diving. Feeling deeply fortunate to travel across the globe and explore the ocean's wonders firsthand—amassing more than 3,000 dives over his lifetime. His underwater explorations often brought to mind his favorite scripture from the Old Testament, Psalm 107:23-24: "They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters; These see the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep." Above the water, his adventurous spirit continued with a lifelong love for water skiing and spending sunny days on the houseboat at Lake Powell. On dry land, Mike enjoyed target shooting and took great pride in being a “hardcore carnivore”, perfecting the art of barbecuing and smoking meat.

In 2021, Mike received a Stage 4 Metastatic Melanoma diagnosis. Six months later, Laura was diagnosed with Stage 4 renal cell carcinoma. Following Laura’s passing on January 4, 2023, Mike carried a heavy burden of sorrow, yet his testimony of Jesus Christ and the reality of eternal families remained stronger than ever. After battling Metastatic Melanoma he then had stage 3 renal cell carcinoma. Mike was then diagnosed with a Glioblastoma brain tumor which ultimately got the better of him. He spent his final years focusing on his children, grandchildren, and his personal history, drawing strength from his deep conviction that families are forever.

Mike is preceded in death by his beloved eternal companion, Laura. He is survived by his children—Nickie, Megan, Matt, and Tyler—along with his cherished grandchildren, and siblings. His life stands as a testament to the power of redemption, the joy of the gospel, and a deep, enduring love for his family.

A viewing before the service will be from 9:30 am - 10:45 am. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 am at Heber Stake Center, 1661 E 980 S, Heber City, UT, 84032. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens. The funeral will be livestreamed via Zoom and can be accessed by clicking the "Watch Services" button above.
