Our sweet, loving Mikayle left us too soon on Saturday, August 14 in Sandy, UT.

Mikayle came into this world tiny, at under 4 pounds, but was strong and fearless from day one. He had a fun-loving, infectious personality and was a friend to everyone he met. He was the definition of a people-person and loved being around others, especially his friends. He was raised in a home full of love by his grandparents with a lot of help from his aunts and uncles.

Mikayle had a group of loving and dedicated life-long friends that he considered his second family. They would drift a little here and there but always come back together in good times and bad. He would say he was getting together with "the gang" and we would know what that meant.

Mikayle loved life and was always looking for the next adventure. He was the preschooler standing on tiptoes to get on the big rides at Disneyland or attempting to backflip into the pool before he learned to swim. As a teenager he could be found cliff jumping, catching wild tarantulas, and always pushing the boundaries. His next plan was learning to skydive with a squirrel suit.

Mikayle also loved the outdoors; hiking, camping, and snowboarding especially. He had a special place in his heart for YMCA Camp Roger where he attended their summer camp every year since he was 11. He recently became a counselor where he adored the children and making camp exciting and special for them.

He worked hard to graduate from high school early so he could serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. We were all so proud when he achieved that goal. He was later discharged for a medical condition. "Once a Marine, Always a Marine."

Mikayle will be deeply missed by all of his friends and family. Our lives will never be the same.

He is survived by his grandparents, Steve and Michelle Workman; brother, Jordan; aunts and uncles, Jessie and Cody Brown, and Melissa and Doug Tryon; great grandmas, Carol Thomas, Glenna Workman, and Letha Rasmussen; along with cousins and great aunts and uncles who love him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Brooke Workman; and great grandparents, Claude Workman and Sandy Whalen.

A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 So.), Sandy, UT. The family requests that anyone attending is symptom-free, masked, and vaccinated if eligible.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the YMCA Camp Roger.

Guestbook/Condolences

Steve and Michelle,
I was saddened to hear of Mikayles passing. Our families thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. He was such a fun kid to have around and I have many fond memories of coaching him during many baseball seasons and his energy and smile were infectious. We were all blessed to know him for the time that we did.

Our fond memories of Mikayle include taking him to see the Sandy 4th of July fireworks when he was maybe 3. We all got such a kick out of how excited he got every time a new one went off. He was so cute. We also had a fun ice skating adventure with him. I can still hear his giggle and see that big grin. He was such a lovable kid. Our hearts are truly breaking for you all. We're so sorry. Sending our love.
