MILO LAWSON CARLSTON

Born to George Milo and Blanche Gwendolyn White Carlston in Salt Lake City, Utah. Milo graduated from East High School in 1953, and received a BS in Business Administration from the University of Utah in 1956. He married Lynda Warnick May 11, 1966 and they had one son, Steven M. Carlston, the pride of his father’s life.

Milo began his business career with J.C. Penney Company in 1949 in Salt Lake, advancing to the District office and then Regional Offices in Texas and Florida. He returned to Salt Lake as Assistant to the President of ZCMI in 1973. Where he retired as Vice President of Operations and a member of the Board of Directors. Milo loved working in retail and the many wonderful people he met there.

Milo had many hobbies, including golfing with his friends of 50 years, skiing with his son, movies, playing cards with friends, numismatics and his endless quest of the stock market. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing the world with his wife riding elephants, camels, oxcarts, rickshaws, and every imaginable boat and manor of conveyance.

His favorite time was spent with his son, Steve, and being with his grandchildren, watching their many activities. And the many vacations spent together on various ships and islands.

Milo will be remembered for his love and generosity with his family, his quick mind and extraordinary business sense.

He is survived by his son Steven and his wife Jennifer, grandchildren, Lilianne and Lawson, a brother-in-law Douglas Holladay and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lynda, a sister Blanche Carlston Smith, a niece Blanche Smith Siddoway. And a sister-in-law Karen Holladay.

A graveside service will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery, located at 1342 E 500 S in Sat Lake, on July 28, 2026 at 10:00 AM with lunch following.
