Misayo E Behrendt passed away on May 21, 2022. She was born on August 7, 1941, to Kunio K Matsumra and Shizuko May Nakagawa in Magna, Utah. She was raised on a farm with her siblings Kimi, Earl, Ed, Les, Jim, and Shirley.
Misayo was a member of the Japanese Presbyterian church located on 1st South 268 West, but later joined the Catholic church. She met Thomas Behrendt in 1984 when he was a security guard for the ZCMI mall. They later got married in 1989.
Misayo enjoyed attending rock and roll and country concerts. She mostly liked Elvis Presly and saw him perform twice. She also enjoyed attending college games with Tom, and they travelled to Chicago a couple of times to see the cubs in Wrigley Field.
Misayo worked at the Alta Club for many years. Some of her responsibilities were ordering food and products for the pantry and club and was a sues chef.
In her later years, she enjoyed feeding various animals such as horses, geese, and squirrels with Tom.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, from 12:00-1:00 PM at Larkin Mortuary (260 East South Temple) with a funeral liturgy to follow at 1:00-1:30 PM. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at Salt Lake City Cemetery (200 "N" St E).
