Earl Thomas Hill

1934 ~ 2017

Earl Thomas Hill passed away on July 7, 2017 at the age of 82. He was born to Thomas Gaston and Susan Frances (Gaunt) Hill on August 28, 1934 in Hyattsville, MD.

Earl was an avid hunter, fishermen and was a master marksman. He graduated from the FBI academy. He spent his 28 year career with the Department of the Interior ‚ U.S. Park Police as a patrolman, detective and regional director. During his time with the Park Police, Earl guarded presidents from Eisenhower to George Bush. He also stood behind Martin Luther King, Jr. when he gave his famous "I Have a Dream" speech. Earl served 4 years of active duty with the U.S. Coastguard and retired after 28 years of reserves.

Earl was well loved by everyone he met. He was a good friend and a tease. He was always willing to help, he would hold the ladder and the cell phone so that he could call 911 if things went awry. He was an awesome country western dancer.

Earl joined the LDS church in 1996. He had a ponytail, beard and mustache when he moved here from Santa Fe, NM. These went away when he was called to be a High Priest. Earl loved the gospel.

Earl is survived by his wife Marilee Andrus Hill, daughter Ellen Hill Jenkins, son E. Michael Hill and ex-wife Dottie Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and son David Hill.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Westbrook 7th Ward, 6364 S. 3200 W., West Jordan, Utah with a visitation held from 9:30 to 10:40 AM prior to services. Interment at the Myers Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 100 Monroe Blvd., Ogden, Utah.
