Leonard Frank Muir

1935 ~ 2017

Leonard Frank Muir passed away April 29, 2017 in St. George, UT. He was born on July 8, 1935 in Salt Lake City, UT to Owen Edward and Hattie Emery Muir. He graduated from South High School in 1953. He served in the United States Navy from 1955-1957.

He married Lawana Matthews in 1960. They were later divorced. Leonard married Kathryn Helen Brown on December 9, 1963. She passed away in 2001. He married Patricia Forsyth Eakin on May 17, 2002. She passed away in 2010. In 2011, he married Sharon Griener of St. George, Utah.

Leonard had a varied career as a grocery store manager, salesman and entrepreneur. Leonard began working for Procter and Gamble Distributing in 1963 and worked for them for almost 20 years. He won accolades for excellence in his in-store merchandising and management skills. He was owner and manager of an audio/video equipment enterprise and was involved in the movie and television industry and later of a tile and carpet business. His last endeavor was working as Project Assistant for the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce.

He took comfort in his faith as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His proudest civic accomplishment was being a volunteer at Dixie Regional Medical Center. He served for six years. Leonard was dedicated and faithful in his responsibilities and was so loved by everyone whom he helped in this capacity.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of St. George, UT, sons Chad (Sandy) Martin of St. George, UT and Brett (Connie) Muir of Sandy, UT sister Pauline (Gail) Jacobsen of Gresham, OR brother Walter (Karin) Muir of Los Altos, CA 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to the above mentioned, Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, a son Greg Muir and a brother Emery A. Rose.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy, UT. A visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the services. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
