Wyla Campbell Thompson

1935 ~ 2018

Wyla Campbell Thompson, our dear daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away January 22, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 83. Born to Leslie Fredrick Campbell and Alice Daisy Tollman June 12, 1935 in Fairview, Wyoming. Married John Mortensen, later divorced, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Boyd W. Thompson in 1977; remaining his faithful companion and confidant until his death in 2010.

Wyla was a hairdresser for over 40 years where she made many wonderful friends. Wyla loved beauty; whether it was a butterfly, music, or her garden. She loved to sing, laugh out loud, and tell off color jokes. She dearly loved her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Wyla is survived by her children, Michael (Julie) Mortensen; Jeannie (Bill) Smith; Joseph (Dallas) Mortensen; Mark (Elaine) Mortensen; Roark Thompson; and 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Preceded in death by husband, Boyd; 5 siblings, and her parents.

For the services, dress in your most colorful, rhinestone studded finery. No black for Wyla! If you choose to honor Wyla you may donate to a charity of your choice or plant something beautiful in your garden come spring. Special thanks to Kerstin, Judy, Vallee, and Robyn for your support.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 E 1300 S, SLC, Utah 84108). Friends may call Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to services. Ennichment at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mausoleum.
