Rolf Martin Njord

1937 ~ 2014

Rolf Martin Njord passed away of natural causes on January 29, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born in Jonkoping, Sweden on November 10, 1937 to Eric and Britta Dahlberg Njord. He lived in Sweden for 11 years until they decided to immigrate to Zion. Their family had joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and desired to join the saints in Utah. While attending the Wilson Ward he met Judy Ann Norton. They dated and fell in love while they were students at South High School and were sealed for time and eternity on August 7, 1958 in the Salt Lake Temple two months after Judy graduated. They were blessed with 3 children.

Rolf specialized in the retail industry and worked for Smith's Food and Drug as the Produce Director. He assisted in creating a successful and profitable business that employs thousands of local people. Rolf loves to work hard and play hard. He enjoys the great outdoors and spent his spare time boating, playing and coaching baseball and basketball. He later discovered golf and became enamored with the game. He is very competitive and would always play to win. He has a larger than life personality and loves his sweetheart and family with all his heart. We will miss his strength and devotion.

He loves the Lord and considered it a privilege and blessing to serve as an ordinance worker for 23 years in the St. George and Jordan River Temples.

His surviving family consists of his eternal companion Judy Njord, and his children Kent and Shellie Njord, John and Sherry Njord and Tami and Craig Weight. He also has 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

His viewing and funeral will be held at the South Jordan Parkway 4th Ward (9625 S. 3400 W.) The viewings will be February 3, between 6-8pm and February 4 between 9:45-10:45am. The funeral will be February 4 at 11am. Online condolences may be made at www.larkincares.com
