Nadine Hall Woodhead 1936-2024

Nadine Hall Woodhead departed this earth November 13, 2024 and returned to a loving God who gave her life. She was born June 12, 1936 in Ogden Utah, to Harold Ephraim Hall and Vera Gibbs Hall and was raised in the small farming community of Portage, Utah. The church house was in the center of the town and the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the center of her life. She learned many lessons from living off the land.

Nadine graduated from Bear River High School where she participated in school activities and was on the Student Council. She attended Brigham Young University where she met many lifelong friends. She loved college life and as a major in journalism, wrote for the Daily Universe where she was assistant Editor. She also wrote a weekly column about college activities for the Deseret News. She was sealed to Robert Gordon Woodhead in the Logan Temple on June 9, 1958 and settled in Salt Lake City. Bob passed away in November of 2022

Following graduation, she wrote for the Deseret News for four years and loved everything newspaper. She said that she had printers’ ink for blood. After her second child was born, she wrote a teenage column at home for a number of years named, “Hi Tales, by Tina.”

Nadine loved books and learning and especially the scriptures. She took institute classes for over 40 years. She had a deep and abiding testimony of her Savior, Redeemer and Exemplar, Jesus Christ and his law was written in her heart.

She and Bob began an eternal family: Lisa Williams (Wade), Steven R. Woodhead (Jane Anne), Scott R. Woodhead (Karen), Jana Woodward, Tricia Pinnock (Destry). Their posterity grew to 19 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren, whom she adored. Each one was most special to her.

She and Bob served a mission to the Hong Kong Asia Area, where she was the first editor of the Liahona in seven Asian countries. Ten public pages were inserted into the monthly Liahona so each country had access to news happening in their own country.

They served a second mission to the Washington DC Visitors’ Center where again she was in charge of all publicity. In both missions, they attended the temple once a month with the senior missionaries which was a great privilege.

On their return home, they were called to be ordinance workers in the Draper Utah Temple, as well as service missionaries in the Sandy Dry Pack Cannery.

In her later years, Nadine found a new love, finding family names on Family Search and completing their work weekly in the temple. She had a deep connection to the temple and the gospel truths she learned there.

Nadine was predeceased by her husband, parents and five siblings and mates: Byron and Hazel Hall, Roland and Norma Hall, Jean and Evan Stevenson, Norma and Theo Coombs, as well as sister Irene Garn.

Besides her children and grandchildren mentioned above, she is survived by Daryl and Shawna Garn.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 30, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Draper Sixth Ward, 12820 South 1300 East, Draper, UT. There will be a visitation from 9:30 - 10:45 prior to the funeral. Burial at the Larkin Sunset Garden 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy Utah.

We love Nadine and the entire Woodhead family. She was such a sweet influence in our lives, and we knew how much she loved us because she would tell us every time we saw her. Her example and love for our Savior will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Nadine's passing. She was such a sweet, kind and loving lady. It was a pleasure to know her and be influenced by her. I'll always remember her wonderful smle and warm hello when we would cross paths. She was such a positive influence in the lives of those who knew her.

Nadine was my special friend. She was so alert and bright to the very end. Her testimony raised all of us and her concerns for our Utah world were so insightful. She truly had printer's ink for blood. How will we all get on without her? I don't know.

I am so sorry for your loss! She was such a wonderful person. I got to spend some of my mission with her and her husband and I just adored them! I was a sister I the DC visitor center while they were serving there. They were both just so kind and funny and always with a big smile on their face to make us feel at home. They are both missed!

Love,
Amanda
