Forrest E. Jacob

1922 ~ 2013

Our Dad, Forrest E. Jacob (Jake), passed away Dec. 18, 2013 in Salt Lake City, UT. after a brief bout with cancer. He was visited by his children and most of his grandchildren in his final days. Jake was born Dec. 15, 1922 in Sugarville, UT. to Ivan Jacob and Ruby Shields. He grew up in Sugarville and Tooele. Jake was a salesman by profession and nature. He was employed at Sears where he excelled as a manager.

On Aug. 31, 1946 he married Phyllis Timothy. With his son Jerry and her daughter Norma they made a happy blended family. To this union they added 3 daughters; Carol, LaDonna and Gail. They were later sealed in the Jordan River Temple. "Phil and Jake" loved to travel in their RV. They had many life-long friends. Jake retired early and they moved to the red-rocks of Ivins, UT. They enjoyed many years of retirement. In April 2013, they moved to The Wellington in Salt Lake, to be closer to their family. Their children lovingly took care of Jake until his passing.

Jake was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Clint and grandson Trenton Wathen. He is survived by his wife Phyllis; children; Jerry (Liz) Jacob, Norma (Calvin) Adams, Carol (Alan) Kartchner, LaDonna (Doug) Wheat and Gail (Dave) Wathen; 15 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and one on the way.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 12:00 Noon at the Little Cottonwood 5th Ward Chapel, 6350 South Rodeo Lane (1550 East), Murray, UT. Viewings will be held on Thursday night from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), and on Friday from 11:00-11:45 A.M. at the Ward prior to the services. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
