Lois Brown Engstrom

1909 ~ 2014

Lois Brown Engstrom died peacefully Sept. 9, 2014 in Medford, Oregon. She was born Dec. 15, 1909 (age 104), in Salt Lake City to John W. Brown and Goldia Bean Brown. Lois was a graduate of East High School (1927) where she received many awards for scholarship. She graduated from the University of Utah, where she was nominated to the Phi Kappa Phi chapter, a national honorary scholastics fraternity. She was a member and officer in Phi Mu sorority and after graduating remained active in the sorority to help children. She was elected president of district 12 of the Phi Mu Council covering Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Utah.

She married Scott Varley and was later divorced. Lois lived most of her time in California, where she and Ed Engstrom were married. She and Ed were active in charitable activities by supporting the Shriner's Hospital and their activities. She was a very good golfer and won many tournaments. She was always known for being elegantly dressed for any occasion.

In 1992 they moved to Rogue Valley Manor in Medford, Oregon.

Lois was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by many loving family members and will be greatly missed. Although living away from many family members, she always remembered Birthdays and Christmas.

Graveside services will be held Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Provo City Cemetery, 610 South State Street, Provo, UT.
