Our beloved father, brother, uncle and friend Ned Smiljanić Storm passed away from this life in West Valley City, Utah, on Monday August 14, 2023.

Ned, or as many of his friends, family and loved ones called him, Neno was born August 5, 1969, in Bihać, Bosnia to Ljubica Romić and Radomir Smiljanić. He was the first born of their two children.

Like many members of his family, Ned took on several creative hobbies and talents. As a young boy he found a great liking to music and that love only continued to grow throughout his whole life. He was extremely gifted at playing instruments, especially the guitar. At a very young age he learned how to speak English, a completely different language than his own. In school his peers commended him for his brilliance, creativity and charisma. Ned continued on to pursue music and was a well-known musician by many in his hometown. Not only was he musically inclined, he was a skilled painter and artist, gifting many friends and family tons of his magnificent work. After some time, Ned brought on even more smiles with his humorous nature being a host on a local radio channel. Ned was loved and respected by many for his intelligence, talent, and whimsical personality.

On January 28, 1998, Ned arrived in America as a refugee from Yugoslavia. As an immigrant to the United States, he loved his new country, and was a devoted American. Here he had two beautiful children, which he shared many of his talents, gifts, and hobbies with. He had taken a liking to Utah’s remarkable nature and enjoyed spending time with friends going camping, and regularly admiring Utah’s scenery, which also inspired many of his paintings. He enjoyed taking his children on scenic drives, dinners, and the movie theaters. You would always find him humming a tune, playing his guitar, or cracking up a silly dad joke. Ned was always dedicated to his work, his family and friends which he loved dearly and made an admirable impression wherever he went. Ned’s smile was always contagious, and never failed to light up a room with his comicalness.

Ned is preceded in death by his mother Ljubica, his father Radomir, his grandparents, Branko, Tatjana, Stanko, and Smiljana. He is survived by his two children Mark and Lara, his brother Predrag, sister-in-law Suzana, niece Tanja, her husband Armin and their two children Adian and Kylan, his aunt Radmila, cousin Nikola, and numerous relatives in Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Sweden, Ireland, and Australia.

Special appreciation to all Ned’s cherished friends, coworkers, and management at LACO technologies.

Ned’s viewing will be held Saturday afternoon, August 26, 2023 from 1- 2p.m. Funeral services will follow starting at 2p.m. Both the viewing and funeral will be held at the Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah.
