  • Nicholas (Nick) Scott Livdahl was born on October 31, 1985, and gained his angel wings on November 29, 2021. Nick grew up in the Millcreek area, he attended Libbie Edward Elementary, Evergreen Junior High, Olympus High School, and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Utah in 2014.

Nick’s childhood was filled with playing with neighborhood friends, spending summer weekends at Echo Reservoir – camping, boating, roasting s’mores by the fire pit, skiing, tubing, and he was known to have occasionally danced on a cooler. Nick treasured his annual summer week away from home with his little brother, Matt, to visit his Gran and Grandad in Las Vegas. Nick always looked forward to fall and his time spent bird hunting with his Dad and brother in Logan, UT. Nick was an avid Minnesota Viking fan and attended football camps in Minnesota with his brother, Matt. Nick loved the holidays and his favorite movies to watch at Christmas were Home Alone and Christmas Vacation.

Nick was a competitor and he excelled in football and wrestling, his golf game, however, was an ongoing challenge. Matt recalls that on their last golf outing, he watched Nick’s nine iron travel further than his last shot.

Nick’s love for football started at the age of eight, in the Ute Conference, where he made and built friendships that would last his lifetime. Nick was a middle linebacker and captain of the Olympus Football team as a senior in high school. He loved nothing more than suiting up on Friday night with his brothers on the field (the boys of fall). He received All-State Football Honors following his contributions on the field during his senior year. Nick attributed his strong work ethic to Coach Miller, he cherished his continued friendship and always reminded Coach Miller that he was the best linebacker he ever coached.

Nick was a fierce competitor on the wrestling mat. He valued the determination and grit that his Coach Vande Veegaete instilled in him. As a senior, he placed, in the 189 lb. weight class, in the Utah State Tournament. He could grapple with the best and left nothing on the mat.
Following his high school graduation, Nick attended the University of Utah with hopes and dreams of becoming a doctor. His pre-med studies included an anatomy class taught by Mark Nielsen. It was here that the seed was planted and his love for anatomy grew and flourished. Nick was a teaching assistant, mentor, and tutor for students, in anatomy and physiology, both in the undergraduate program and for first-year medical students. One of Nick’s greatest achievements was his unrivaled ability to teach and impact others to achieve their goals.

Nick loved children and spent time volunteering for the UFIT program at the University of Utah. During family gatherings, Nick could always be found with the little ones, sharing his love, teaching, and encouraging their growing imaginations.

Nick was a true Minnesota Viking fan and displayed his Viking Pride on every Sunday. We will miss his cheers and never forget his sideline coaching…. “Blitz! Blitz! Blitz! Come on guys, wrap up!!”

Nick had an incredible fashion sense and always dressed the part. He was a sneakerhead and had acquired no less than 35 pairs of Air Jordan’s – there may be more, we are still finding them. He loved the GOAT and wore his shoes with incredible pride.

Nick leaves us with his legacy, to love without judgment, impact others in a positive way, strive to be our best and always be humble and kind, in our journey through life.

Nick is survived by his parents, Scott and Lyn, brother, Matt, doggies Percy and Floyd, and his Nephew pup, Sonny Dude. Aunt Janet Burton, Aunt Sherry Kleven, Aunt Doody Stephan (Dennis). Cousins – Brad Burton (Melissa), Craig Burton (Erin), Kelly Kleven (Kirsten), Ryan Kleven (Jill), Scott Kleven (Kristi), Laurie Pederson, Trish Godlewski (Mike) Donnie Livdahl (Amber), Pete Livdahl (Amanda), Dione Owens (Martin), Keith Tilston, Andrew Tilston, Mateo Tilston, Sophia Tilston, Danielle Lozano (Omar), DJ Stephan (Kyla), many nieces, nephews, extended family and an unbelievable number of friends, teammates, and colleagues. Preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Jean Tilston, Don and Shirley Livdahl, Uncle Paul Burton, Uncle Don Livdahl, Uncle Peter Tilston, Uncle Larry Kleven, and Cousin Jonathan Burton.

Nick, you will be loved forever and always and will never be forgotten. SKOL!

I worked with Nick at the University of Utah Anatomy Lab. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Nick and I spent several hours together in the lab and I remember that time with fondness. He truly was great at what he did, and put his whole self into his projects. And always made sure to be the best dressed while doing it. He was so loving and funny and I had a great time working with him. My condolences to his family and his friends.

    Scott, Lyn, and Matt-
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Many memories of Nick have come flooding back. The countless sleepovers at your home, the great times on the football field, but one will always stick out. When we went to raging waters. Me and nick were riding down the slide and we wanted to flip out of the tube. We did and nick hit his face on the slide, and knocking out his front tooth in the process. We were standing the water at the bottom of the slide that was rapidly turning red. In true Nick fashion he wanted to stay and play. I love you guys.

Lyn, Scott, and Matt I am so sorry for your loss! My heart and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I met Nick back in July on accident at a bar he said his boss made him go and it was the first time I saw this handsome man with a beautiful smile and told myself I need to get to know this him immediately. Best decision I ever made! He was nothing short of kind, sweet, hilarious, and stylish. Nick had so much passion for the things he loved and enjoyed and it was a pleasure being able to sit with him for hours just talking about life. Nick gave so many people so much hope and confidence to go after their dreams and he will be missed every moment. Thank you guys for sharing such a wonderful son and brother with this world! ❤️

May your family know that you have a very special place in our families heart and we are hear to love and support you. Tobey and Peggy Cummings

Nick will forever be one of my favorite students. He had a love for anatomy and I had the grand opportunity of watching him grow from a student with an exceptional work ethic to a teacher who loved to help students try to reach the heights that he had achieved. Nick was not only one of my students, but someone I am proud to call a dear friend. We spent many an hour discussing, not only anatomy, but sports, which Nick could discuss forever. Nick you will always hold a place in my heart.

Love you and miss you my friend! It’s been a long time since we clashed pads on the field or sweated together on the mat but I’m a better person because of those shared experiences. Moments I’ll always cherish and moments that wouldn’t have happened without the support and love of your parents and brother. Rest easy and see you soon!

I was lucky enough to wrestle with Nick and was always impressed by how tough he was and yet what a sweet and friendly guy he was. I was older than him and we wrestled in the same weight class so he was a bit of a mentee to me. I always knew he would do more in his time than I ever did and was so happy when I heard about his success. I wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed knowing Nick and what an example he was to me of hard work and mental and physical toughness and the fact you can be a tough guy and also a nice guy. Me and my family send our condolences and the world is a worst place without Nick in it.

    Lyn, Scott, and Matt -

I'm so sorry for your unimaginable loss. Nick was always one of my favorite relatives to be around. We had a very similar sense of humor. Me, Dione and Andrew spent some time with him in Utah when our father passed. It was a sad time but I remember Nick still had us all cracking up and it really lifted our spirits. I will miss him and am deeply saddened that he's gone but I'm grateful that I got to know him.

Nick, you were such a solid guy and someone I looked up to. I always enjoyed watching you excel in sports growing up and admired your work ethic. I know you will be missed deeply by many, but also do know you impacted many people’s lives for the greater good. I’ll never forget the No high fructose corn syrup diet you got Matt and I on back in our glory days that got both of us six packs lol. Fly high bro. Much love Lynn, Scott, and Matt.
