Frances Yvonne Vernon Lloyd

1943 ~ 2018

After a courageous 6-year battle with multiple myeloma, our beloved Gram-B passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on May 21, 2018. Bonnie was born April 23, 1943 in Logan, Utah to Clinton DeWitt Vernon and Evelyn Iverson Vernon. She was raised in Salt Lake City where she enjoyed dance, cheerleading, violin, a'cappella choir, and theater at East High School. She relished her time at the University of Utah as a songleader, Chi Omega sister, and Homecoming Queen. She graduated with honors in 1965, after being crowned Miss Utah.

In 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Lloyd, in the Salt Lake Temple. Theirs is an eternal love story that began in their teens. They enjoyed 43 years together before Bill passed away after an 8-year battle with cancer. Bonnie tirelessly supported and cared for him, every step of the way. They loved their time in Boston where Bill completed his degrees from Harvard. They welcomed six beautiful children and 13 foster children into their family, raising them first in Tennessee, and then Utah. With Bonnie, everyone became a friend or a "rela-friend" as soon as she met them. She had a remarkable way of making you feel special and would drop what she was doing to serve anyone in need. She was a planner and giver of unique gifts. If something was worth doing, it was always worth overdoing. Often called the "Energizer Bunny," she was the epitome of spontaneity and optimism. To know Bonnie was to love her!

She was a devoted woman of faith whose unconditional love brought many people to Christ. Always magnifying her callings, she enjoyed being an early-morning seminary teacher, and serving a mission as Temple Square secretary, where she won the hearts of all the sister missionaries. She radiated light - always smiling and ever faithful in her testimony - she left a lasting legacy of selfless love, fun traditions, and fearless faith.

She is adored and survived by her six children: Marty (Lisa) Lloyd, Tiffany (J.D.) Packard, Sheffield (Suzy) Lloyd, Weston Lloyd, Merrilee (Steve) Gottfredson, Ivey (Darren) Mitchell; 26 "grandies" and one "great-grandie;" her sister, Marlene Vernon; her in-laws, Dr. Jon Lloyd, Lynette Lloyd Brooks, June Lloyd Clyde; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her dear husband, William Hardy Lloyd; her parents, Clinton and Evelyn Vernon; and her in-laws, Donald and Helen Carroll Lloyd, Helen Joan Lloyd, Donald "Dee" Lloyd, Karen Nelson Lloyd, Jackie Farr Lloyd and Ted Brooks.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 12 p.m. at the Monument Park Stake Center, 1320 S. Wasatch Dr., Salt Lake City, with a viewing beforehand from 10:30-11:30 a.m. A viewing will also be held on Tuesday, May 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City.

Our family expresses gratitude to all who have offered blessings, support, and loving prayers during her cancer journey. We are especially grateful to Dr. Barry Stults, Dr. Djordje Atanackovic, Mary Steinbach, and the entire Huntsman medical staff for their care of beloved Bonnie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Huntsman Cancer Institute, or to the LDS Missionary, Temple, or Humanitarian Departments.
