Obituary

Noell Nelson returned to his Heavenly Father on June 2, 2026. He was born on November 11, 1926, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was married to his sweetheart, Shirley Nelson on October 6, 1948, and was married for 72 years. At a young age, Noell owned and operated a grocery store, afterwards he changed careers into building and pipeline engineering where he owned and operated Skyline Contractors. They hosted 40 youth exchange students over the years. Noell lived a life of service to his country and his community. He was a proud World War II veteran he served on USS San Diego, he served as Mayor of Bluffdale from 1998 to 2002, served on Bluffdale City Council for decades. He was a dedicated member of the Bluffdale Lions Club for more than 54 years, serving as District Governor 1989-1990 having joined the Lions Club on February 1, 1972. Throughout his life, Noell exemplified the Lions motto, We Serve. His leadership, friendship, wisdom, and commitment to helping others left a lasting impact on Bluffdale and all who had the privilege of knowing him. In his early years Noell enjoyed riding and racing motorcycles, he was instrumental in incorporating the Salt Lake City motorcycle club. He raced midget cars and loved flying his airplanes. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus for years at family Christmas parties watching his grandchildren’s eyes light up as he entered the room. Noell was always up for an arm wrestle or game of ping pong. Noell is survived by his children Tim Nelson, Azrcka Bedgood, Luanne Chucci, Sandra Wilson and Todd Nelson. They also have 21 grandchildren, 60 great—grandchildren and 41 great-great-grandchildren. He is proceed in death by his beautiful wife Shirley Ann Nelson, son Terry Dee Nelson. His parents Ralph and Donna Nelson of Salt Lake City. His sisters, Alaire and Lurra. Brothers, Blaire, Donald, Gerald, Harold and Daryl.
