Gaylene F. Jones

1956 ~ 2019

Our beloved mom and nana, Gaylene F. Jones, passed away at age 62 on September 4th, 2019.

Born November 6th, 1956 to David Alonzo \"Lon\" and Lillian \"Jane\" Farnsworth in Duchesne, Utah, Gaylene was the second eldest of their five children.

Gaylene was raised and went to school in the Uinta Basin, then moved to Salt Lake City, where she went to cosmetology school to become a hairstylist. She served in the Texas-San Antonio Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she met the love of her life, Rex. After her mission, the two were married on June 2nd, 1980 in the Salt Lake City Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. They would spend 38 years together and bring 3 daughters into the world.

Gaylene was a bright and out-loud personality. There was never a stranger where she went. Everyone who knew her - from her clients during her stylist years, to the coworkers at the University of Utah and Intermountain Medical Centers where she spent her last working years - loved and adored her. With her trademark purple or pink (or sometimes both!) hair-do, she had a hug and a smile and a kind word for all she met. We were all her \"kids.\"

Gaylene loved to play piano (she was the pianist for many of the church wards she lived in) and she was an accomplished baker and candy maker. She would shower those she knew each Christmas with cookies, fudge, and caramels - always a big hit.

Gaylene is survived by her brothers: Larry, Brent, and Kim; her sister Becky; her stepdaughters: Megan and Jennifer; her daughters: Devon, Meredith, and Gillian; and her granddaughters, whom she cherished: Aspen, Carleigh, Dylan, Piper, and Erin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her \"honey,\" Rex.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 11th at the West Jordan 19th Ward, 2666 West 7000 South, West Jordan, Utah, 84084. Viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow. Gaylene will be interred at the Utah Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah.
