Janet Elizabeth Gerber Gibson

1922 ~ 2014

Janet Elizabeth Gerber Gibson left this life for the next great adventure on June 25, 2014. Born September 14, 1922, to Franklin and Margaret Gerber in Magna, Utah, she was the 9th of 10 children.

Janet was always a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, grandmother and friend, and a joy to all who knew her. She grew up working hard on the family farms in Metropolis NV and Gridley CA and passed the appreciation for hard work on to her children. Janet attended nursing school in Mesa AZ and Salt Lake City, where she met her future husband. She made many lifelong friends in the process. She worked at hospitals in the Salt Lake valley, including the LDS Hospital, Cottonwood Hospital and the VA.

She married William H. Gibson July 5, 1945, in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 4 children, Joseph E. (Jolynn) Gibson, G. Paul Gibson, Laurie E. (Todd) McBride and Pamela G. Gibson; 15 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Janet was very active in the LDS church, serving in many positions and missions, sharing her testimony in word and deed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, all her siblings except for her younger sister Eva Mae Kimber, her beloved daughter-in-law Sallie and many, many friends and family. There is a wonderful reunion in heaven today.

Her funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the LDS Chapel on 2nd Avenue and A Street. Viewing at 10 a.m.; funeral at 11. Interment to follow in the Salt lake City Cemetery. A special thanks to Highland Cove Assisted Living and Gentiva Home Health and Hospice for the loving care they gave Mom. Condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com
