LaRene G. Kimball

1926 ~ 2019

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandma, great-great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend to so many, LaRene G Kimball passed away peacefully January 12th, 2019 at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family, due to natural causes related to age.

She was born June 5th, 1926 in Bluebell Utah, to Leslie B Goodrich and Almira Hancock.

LaRene married the love of her life, Blane T. Kimball on May 24, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They raised six children and spent 64 wonderful years together before the passing of Blane in 2008. Theirs was truly a love story! We know there has been a great reunion with Dad, siblings, parents, and two grandchildren all waiting to welcome her home.

She was a devoted wife and mother, and spent her entire life serving others. She was an incredible cook, and always had some soup, cookies or a full course meal ready when visitors came by. She has tried to pass down many of her recipes, but most were in her head, and not written down. Mom was always a huge supporter of her kids and grandkids activities, whether it was dance, sports, recitals or plays, Mom and Dad were always there to support, (even though she never did fully understand football). She did love basketball and was an avid Utah Jazz fan, while her younger sister Virginia was a Lakers fan, which always made for fun banter. She loved the annual "girls retreat" with her daughters, daughters in law, sister and nieces, where there was always craziness and laughter.

She was a talented genealogist and was the main driver in putting together life stories and family books for the Goodrich, Hancock and Kimball families. We always had many family reunions and family parties because mom loved being surrounded by family, and we have so many fond memories of these events. Mom LOVED babies and always wanted to be one of the first to hold the newly born grandkids. She always had such a gentle spirit when it came to newborns.

She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including Relief Society President and councilor, visiting teacher, Sunday school and primary teacher, and was always looking to serve her neighbors, family and friends. She was truly a Christlike person and leaves behind a great legacy and example of service and motherhood to all.

LaRene is survived by her six children, LeNea Liddle (Steve), Wendy Witkamp (Nick), Denise Buchi (Mark) Brad (Kitura), Alan and Steven (Teri) Kimball, 28 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Blane, six sisters and two brothers and two granddaughters.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday January 19th at 12:00 noon in the Cottonwood 11th ward chapel located at 1830 East 6400 S in Salt Lake City. Friends may call at the same chapel prior to services beginning at 10:00 am. Interment in the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
