Richard Lee Murphy

1938 ~ 2015

Richard was born prematurely to Perry John and Angeline Murphy. Brothers Jim (Marlene) and Mike. Bob and Don preceded him in death. He was a strong baby. His mom kept him warm in the oven.

Richard served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Lexington. Married to the love of his life Kay Petersen, with whom he went to Irving Jr and South High Schools. They were marred 54 years and renewed their vows on their 50th anniversary. They owned and operated a "mama/papa" grocery store in Sugarhouse. He was also a super salesman of building products and jewelry during his career. After retirement he joined his wife working guest services at Energy Solutions Arena until he took ill with dementia and Parkinson.

Family was the most important thing to Richard; they were with him to the end. Survived by his wife Kay; 3 children Tammie Murphy, Linda Graham (Butch) and Richard John Murphy (Rona); 7 grandchildren Cory, Bill (Shea), Stu, Jenny (Ammon), Audrey (Shawn), Anjada and Lindsey, also Heaven, Hunter, Corie, Lauren, Jon and Alivia; 8 great grandchildren Destiny (15), Ailee (7), Mason (7), Lia (6), Max (3), Pip (18 mos.), Ryker (8 mos.) and Lina (1 mo.). Also 2nd family cruise/camp etc friends, the 4M's Marshalls, Matthews, Middletons.

The family would like to thank the V.A. and Solstice Hospice; JoLene and her team were so loving and caring.

Memorial service to be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Saturday, April 11, at 2 pm with viewings 1 hour prior to memorial and Friday, April 10, 6 to 8 p.m. Interment at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 Highland Drive. Condolences welcome at www.larkinmortuary.com
