Dale passed away peacefully at his home June 28, 2019 among those he loved.
Dale was born on March 29, 1935 in Murray, Utah, to Harold and Phyllis Smith Howlett. He married Denece Poma, his childhood sweetheart, in the Salt Lake Temple on October 7, 1954. Denece preceded him in death on October 26, 2006. They shared 52 wonderful years together. Dale married Sherrie Fitzgerald Wheadon, also from Draper and a childhood friend December 20, 2008. Sherrie stayed by Dale's side until his passing.
Dale is loved by all who knew him, he had a generous and calm personality and work ethic of the highest regard and an ever-present sense of humor to the very end.
Dale was one of the last of the great Draper egg producers participating with his family and his many associates in operating Howlett Farms and Mountain Valley Egg Producers.
Dale loved hunting, camping and especially fishing with family and friends and has played a role in many great fish stories.
Dale participated vigorously in his community and church with many assignments in both. He served on the Draper City Planning Commission as the city of Draper grew from its farming roots to the city we see today. He also served as a Seventy, serving many years as a stake missionary.
Always an optimist and ready for a challenge and an adventure, many good memories and accomplishments are Dale's legacy. Those who joined Dale in these adventures will miss him.
Dale was known by many in the community and he cherished those associations.
Dale is survived by his wife Sherrie, sons Kevin (Sandra), Steven (Lisa), and Brad (MaryAnn) Howlett, stepchildren Keri Frampton (David), Mark (Ann) Wheadon, Kristie Gordon, Kate Wheadon, Kim Wheadon and Joseph (Clare) Wheadon, brothers Duane (Martha) and Gary (Shirley) Howlett, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, thirteen step-grandchildren, twenty-two step-great-grandchildren and many extended families. Preceded in death by his wife Denece, infant son Brian, infant granddaughter Jessica Howlett; brother Keith Howlett; and stepson Rick Wheadon (Jana).
A special thanks to the Hospice nurses with Elevation and Wally, his twenty-four-hour caregiver with Caring Hearts, for their dedicated service and compassion for Dale.
