Gordon Tsuyoshi Hashimoto

1944 ~ 2018

Gordon Tsuyoshi Hashimoto passed away on May 4th, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Gordon was born on June 11, 1944 to Kotaru (Charlie) and Kemy Hashimoto in the Minidoka Japanese Internment Camp in Jerome County, Idaho.

Gordon spent his childhood in Portland Oregon, where he learned one of his life-long passions, fishing. Gordon graduated from the University of Oregon, with a Bachelors Degree in Architecture. Gordon would later graduate from Harvard University with a Masters Degree in Architecture of Urban Design. Gordon would go onto to become an Associate Professor of Architecture at the University of Utah. Gordon taught at the University of Utah for over thirty years, and was a dedicated teacher who took great pride in the success of his colleagues and students.

In his later years Gordon became the caretaker of the Japanese Garden that is situated near the Salt Lake City Convention Center. Gordon took great pride in the beauty of the garden and it allowed Gordon to continue to express his love of design.

Gordon was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother as well as several four legged friends.

Private services were held on May 19th, 2018.

Memorial donations may be made to the Salt Lake County Animal Shelter, in honor of Gordon's love of dogs.
