Marianne Shortt Hainsworth

1950 ~ 2018

Our dear sweet Mother, Grandmother and Wife passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at her home in Sandy, Utah after she lost her battle with cancer. She was born March 1, 1950 in Ogden, Utah and was adopted at 9 days old by Thomas O. Shortt and Maxine Connell Shortt. She was their only child and was raised in Holladay, Utah. She was proceeded in death by her parents Thomas and Maxine Shortt, first husband (Colin Hilton), son John R. Hainsworth II, and 3 grandchildren.

Marianne married the love of her life, John R. Hainsworth on August 1, 1986 at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City, Utah. They resided in Sandy, Utah. Together they were able to build a relationship of love, respect, trust, and honesty. Her husband took on the role of being a dad to Marianne's children and together they worked on showing all the children what a happy and loving relationship is.

Marianne loved working with her husband on construction sites for 18 years building homes and doing custom finish work. They were inseparable. For several years she loved to fish, especially up Big Cottonwood Canyon, where she usually out fished John. Marianne and her husband both enjoyed bowling and were on a bowling league together. Marianne loved to bake, have a beautiful yard and home. She was always willing to help her family and loved babysitting her grandchildren. Within her final months she found a lot of joy and happiness watching her youngest great-granddaughter Maxine Grace grow and received tons of hugs, kisses and "I Love You's." Marianne made many friends in Wendover, NV, where she and John enjoyed going to get away for the weekend.

Marianne taught her children to love unconditionally, be honest in everything they do, and to work hard for what you want. Marianne enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always willing to help others. She loved the LDS Church and shared her time and talents through service in the Relief Society.

She is survived by her husband John R. Hainsworth, daughter Wendy (Jason) Nipper, Patricia Marcroft, Rhea Chapman, Holly (Robert) Adams, Amanda Hendriksen, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

We want to thank the Utah Cancer Institute and Hospice for the care and concern they provided to her. Marianne enjoyed visiting with her care givers from hospice, Becky, Alexis, Trisha and Ruth.
