Ora Elsa Hatch Crane peacefully completed her earthly sojourn on August 17, 2025, with her loving husband of 74 years by her side. She was born in American Fork, Utah, on August 24, 1930, to Elsa and Orlan Hatch. She was affectionately known as Suzie to the Hatch family and later as Grammy to her immediate family.
She was raised in American Fork and worked on the family farm on the shores of Utah Lake. Life was difficult, especially during the Depression years. She wore homemade dresses and underclothes that her resourceful mother crafted from empty flour sacks.
She met the love of her life, James Clyde Crane, on a blind date and later married him on January 24, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. They resided in Draper their entire life, raising a family there. She had a special love for babies.
She loved her family deeply, she was very hardworking and strong-willed, an excellent cook and homemaker. She loved her home, kept it spotless and her yard immaculate. Her admiration for the beauty of the earth was unending.
Grammy and Pop were able to spend much of their retirement in Arizona and Nevada where they met many wonderful friends.
Grammy’s heart was broken with the passing of her children Scott and Cathy in 2021 and more recently with the passing of her stepson Richard. She is survived by her husband Clyde, son Jim (Debbie), daughter Claudia (Roland), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express our appreciation to Active Home Care and Hospice, especially Ashley and Marlo for the care and love they have given.
A graveside service will be held, Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 11:30 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, Utah.
