Lola ‚ As we all know and love - left this life with us here to watch over us all from the heavens above peacefully with family around her.
Lola was born in Curitiba, Parana Brazil. The oldest daughter of Joseph Ordakowski and Sophia Kowalczyk. She came to the United States in 1955 and after a short stay in San Diego CA moved to Salt Lake City, UT where she lived most of her life.
As a child, Lola was stricken with Polio which left her with an abnormal walk. Throughout life she battled many other physical health problems too, however, in her typical fashion, she never let this damper her spirit of determination to succeed, unconditional love, service, cooking, and caring for others. We are certain this amazing spirit is how she lived to the incredible age of 93 with always a smile, only kind words, and laugh to share with us all.
Lola did not marry another individual in this life but devoted her life to helping others. She spent much of her life caring for young toddlers and infants at the YWCA day care center. She adored children. She enjoyed spending time with all her nieces and nephews, and specifically helping raise 3 of them as her own and giving them a second mom. Lola was not just aunt to us. She was a mom and grandmother. Lola loved to cook, laugh, be with people, read, watch old movies, and stay up to date on Brazilian TV and happenings. She had the sharpest mind of any person we ever knew and had no problem in remembering names, dates, and events of years past. She truly appreciated every ounce of help ever given to her. The love of her family, friends, and neighbors was never in short supply. This love and time is what she cherished in return. They all meant the world to her. Many of these individuals spent the last few years giving back to her what she shared and taught all of us.
Lola was proceeded in death by her Parents (Joseph and Sophia) plus two brothers (Eloy and Renato).
She is survived by her Sister, Laura (Egon), Laura's children (Who knew Lola as their other mom) LeGrand and Baron de Carvalho, Sophia (Robert) Lambert ‚ She had four grand kids from these kids: Malcolm, Cameron, Casie, and Haylee. Nephew's Joel (Cecilia), Daniel (Eliana), plus many others and their extended families. Oh yes, if she was here, she'd name them all and could tell you something about each one of them.
Per her wishes there will be no viewing. A simple Graveside service will be held at the Salt Lake City cemetery on Wednesday May 15th at 11:00AM where Lola will be buried next to her mom and dad.
Outside of family and friends, a special thank you goes out to Lola's incredible family of medical professionals; the staff at Brighton (now Bristol) Home Health and Hospice (Tara, Katie, Debi, Mariah, Bryce, Emily, and many, many more), plus Dr M. Hecht, G. Coccimiglio, and Dr C. Biraldi who spent so much time making sure she lived the most comfortable life possible. Our friends Leisa, Laura, Marie, Rod, Matt and the village of others who made Lola enjoy life to the fullest these last 10 years on the crazy ups and downs. Always available to whatever we needed and giving her the most incredible quality of life, one could imagine.
