Phillip Edmond Ohlsson

1938 ~ 2014

Phillip Edmond Ohlsson passed away in Salt Lake City, UT on March 12, 2014 in the 75thyear of his full and active life.His three children; Todd, Tim and Nicole were by his side when he passed. Phil was born in Sacramento California on May 22, 1938 to Cyril Edmond Ohlsson and Mary Josephine Carney. He grew up in the Sacramento area where he graduated High School from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1956. He obtained his bachelor's degree in finance from Idaho State University in 1972 and went on to careers in Sales and Management for various Medical, Dental and fortune 500 companies until late in his career.

Phil actively served in the United States Marine Corp, achieving high scores and accreditation as a "sharp shooter" and awarded medals for expert marksmanship. He was given an Honorable Discharge as a Lance Corporal on October 30th 1963.

Phil loved people and treated everyone like family. His funny sense of humor, quick wit and intellect were infectious. He was a generous, big-hearted individual. He had a knack for solving problems and giving his all to any situation. He enjoyed working with people and guiding them to attaining their goals both personally and professionally. Phil loved to play golf, and has left many great memories to those that shared this passion with him. He was also an avid runner. Running had always come naturally to him; earning varsity status in high school and moving on to run competitively in College. During his early running years he broke state records in long distance running and taking the #2 position as the fastest mile for the State of California during the 1950'S. After joining the Marines, he joined a program in which Military teams participated at running meets throughout the Far East. One of his biggest personal accomplishments was when he went to Taiwan, ran in their stadium and slept and ate with their professional athletes. He won the 1500 meter race in that event and received a medal from the hand of Chiang Kai-shek. He also had the incredible experience of running some of the most difficult marathon's in the Country including the Boston Marathon, The New York Marathon, and The Big Sur Marathon. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew him.

Phil is survived by his three children: son P. Todd Ohlsson (fiance Marika Waldron), son Timothy Keith Ohlsson (Bang), and daughter Nicole Ohlsson Stock (Mark C.). And 5 grandchildren; Jaden Robbins, Seth Stock, Kameron Stock, McCall Stock, Vivienne Ohlsson- all of whom loved and will miss playing with Grandpa. He is preceded in death by: his beloved parents Ed and Mary Ohlsson, and brother Richard.

A Memorial Reception will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd, Sandy, Utah 84092, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Phil's final resting place will be at the Sacramento Memorial Lawn in Sacramento, California.
