Elva Viola Jacobson Spencer

1924 ~ 2015

Elva passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2015.

Elva was born June 24, 1924 in Cedar Hill, Idaho to Alma G. and Alice Jacobson. She was the tenth of twelve children. She married William B. Spencer, Jr. on January 11, 1947.

Elva was devoted to her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and creating a lovely and inviting home where family and friends were always welcome and well fed. Mom knew her way around a toolbox. She was independent and her own handyman. Mom was resilient in her fight with cancer and arthritis. She worked through her challenges with dignity and determination and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Each grandchild knew they were grandma's favorite.

She is survived by her daughters: Vickie (Richard) Valentine, Sheila (Paul) Liston, Heidi (Paul) Fullmer, Connie (Steve) Sturzenegger and Alison (John) Carpenter, 25 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and brothers Tad and Don (Shirlee) Jacobson. Preceded in death by her husband and a granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 8, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Rose Park 2nd Ward, 1153 West 800 North, East Chapel. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. and at the church Friday from 10:00 -10:45 am.

Interment Salt Lake City Cemetery.
